I bought this because the grate I currently use has 1/2" thick bars that had warped over time from the heat. I also wanted a higher grate in order to improve air flow under and around the logs. Unfortunately, this grate is just like my old one. I wouldn't have purchased it if it had an accurate product description.The grate is advertised as having 3/4" steel bars. As is shown in the photo, the bars are 1/2" as most would measure it. If you measured them diagonally, you could say they were 3/4" but that's not the impression given by the advertisement. The photos in the ad also make it look much thicker.Secondly, they advertise that the grate is 4" off the ground. It is not. Even with the most generous interpretation of the measurement, to the top of the metal, it is still not 4". The framework of the grate is only 2 1/2" off the ground. This is even lower than my current grate. I would strongly urge the advertiser to post measurements that match what people think - the height should be the height to the LOWEST point.I am baffled by companies that inflate measurements like this. Don't they understand that customers are going to be disappointed when the item they receive doesn't match the product's specifications?In spite of my complaints, I am upping my review to 4* because the unit is solidly built and as good as any I've seen. In addition, the support has been excellent. The seller went out of their way to try to satisfy me. If I hadn't needed a higher, stronger grate, I would have kept this one.

I do not recommend his product at all! It looked beautiful, exactly what I wanted until I had a fire in my outdoor fireplace. After three fires, the paint peeled off and looks terrible. Wish I never bought it.

Our outdoor fireplace was in need of a replacement grate after our previous one fell apart after only a year of use. Decided to give this one a try and happy I did. It was much larger and heavier than our previous grate which means it should hold up much longer. It fit perfect and the fireplace and we’ve already got one burn on it. Expecting good things from this for several years to come.

Far better than others I bought from Lowes!

We burn wood all day long in our fireplace during the winter. It gets extremely hot. This grate not only holds up to the temperature but promotes longer burns resulting in more heat due to the design of the grate. It also allows you to perfectly stack logs to burn. All that’s left is a fine gray powder which is a sign of a very efficient burn. All this and you absolutely cannot beat the price. As a wood burner for many years having gone through many grates don’t hesitate to, this grate is excellent
