Work perfect. Bear got trash can the day after I installed it ( trash day) and didn't get to the trash. Me and garbage guys were happy.

I purchased this for my recycling can to use when the winds are high as the contents are lighter than my trashcan and tends to blow over and make a mess. I don’t know if it would work to keep out the trash bandits, they tend to be pretty inventive when it comes to getting in places they’re not wanted, but to just keep the lid on it works great. I didn’t like the locking carabiner so I replaced it with a simple push carabiner and it works great and the recycling guys appreciate mess free pickup.

We purchased these to try and keep bear out of our trashcan. We installed them super tight, but somehow the bear was still able to pry the side of the can open and get into our trash. Install isn’t breeze with a drill and took less than five minutes. We will be looking for another way to stop bear from getting into our garbage in addition to these straps.

This thing is a joke! The parts are tiny and light-weight, and would pull right out if a bear touched it. Unreal that anyone could even call this a bear deterrant. Really? 1/2 inch screws that don't even have washers for strength? Whoever made this has obviously never actually dealt with bears. It is pure junk. I'll have to throw it away, as it is now so difficult to deal with returning an item like this that is defective in a way that does not fit into one of Amazon's basic categories in order to get a refund. A child could pull this right out of the trash can it is installed in.

Where has this product been all my life... good riddance raccoons!! Love it and easy to install.
