Q: Can the ports be unscrewed to make cleaning easier?

I have had mine for a year. It needed a good clean and frankly - despite the seller's answer - it is pretty easy to undo and re-do the screws - there was no nut involved and just a regular sized Philliups screwdriver did the trick. It sis now hanging outside again throughly cleaned and ready for another year.

Q: Can the base be removed for easy cleaning?

Yes dead easy, there is a bolt between the two feeding ports on both feeder ports, undo the two bolts and the ports come out, slide them out then take the bottom of the feeder out. Slide the top of the feeder up, then take out the wire handle, then put back bottom first, easy peasy.

Q: Would this work with mealworms? We are inundated with starlings so also wondering if they can perch on this feeder?

this feeder works with mealworms and starlings can perch on it. Buy with confidence.

Q: Does it come with a screw fixing under the base to attach a plastic saucer to catch the falling seed?

Unfortinalty it comes as u see it , no screws or anything .
