This description implies, as you have written in your case, 50mm is the external (outside) measurement.

Hi. You get 6 keys with the locks ( one key opens both locks). You can get additional keys as the information card provided includes site which lets you know where to get additional keys - serial number of key is unique to lock

It depends on what you call size. If you mean length wise then yes. The important thing to remember is that the first number is the internal measurement and the second one is the external from the locking screw centre point. E.G a 45/35 is 45mm internal and 35 external from centre point.

Q: Are they sided in terms of inside/outside? if so, what side does the black bits on the top go?

Yes the lock is marked EXT which faces the outside. The EXT (outside) also has the 3 star kitemark so the 3 star kitemark faces the outside. It's not clear in the photos but the black bits are at both ends. Hope this helps, great locks.
