this thing really works
I had seen these for years but never needed one. Then my daughter bought a house with overgrown shrubs. To big for the hedge clipper but really to small to chain saw. This thing holds up to 1 1/2 inch branches so the chain can cut them without them whipping all over the place. I mounted it to my electric chain saw and it was really light and easy to control. I may just leave it on the saw and go buy another electric saw for other tree trimming...I like it that much. And the price was right and it shipped fast.

Chainsaw Hedge Trimmer
I haven't used it, yet. I'm waiting for the hedges to go dormant this fall before I trim them. I can say the Clip-N-Trim installed easily on my electric chain saw, and it looks like it will work.

It really works
This adapter chews through the branches that would slide off a naked chainsaw or jam a hedge trimmer. The natural result of the "teeth" is that they limit the max size of a branch that can be cut.The "nose piece" really needs a NyLoc nut.

Not effective for cutting laurel hedge
This device may (or may not) work fine for some applications, but it did not work for heavy pruning of an old laurel hedge. The hedge had many end branches that were the about the diameter of a pencil or smaller, as well as a few main branches of 1/2 to 3/4 inch in diameter. Because of the age of the laurel, the end branches are hard (as opposed to soft, new/green shoots). This device was mounted on an existing electric chainsaw that I use for pruning fruit and ornamental trees at our house. The chain was sharp. The main problem appeared to be that the branches appeared to "ride" ahead of the chainsaw blade: When chainsawing limbs on a tree, etc., the blades cut into a relatively unmovable surface (either because of the size of the limb or the "dogs" on the chainsaw). However, because of the size and hardness of the small limbs, the limbs would flex and be pushed ahead of the blades rather than engaging the blades and being cut.I found it was a lot harder physically and a lot slower to try to use this chainsaw device to trim the hedge than to use manual bypass loppers to heavily prune the hedge. (A regular hedge trimmer works fine for routine trimming of leaves and fresh stems.)

I had to do a bit of modification to get it to fit my electric saw, but now it really does do the job of trimming my shrubs in a hurry.
