Alt-Innsbruck Eau de Cologne / Aftershave, 3.4 fl oz (100 ml)

After all of the rave reviews of Alt-Innsbruck, I decided to add it to my shave den. The product comes in a 100ml bottle that is about 4" tall and square. It's a unique design, one that none of my other fragrances have; HOWEVER, there is no restrictor cap, which means the liquid will free-flow out of the bottle into your hand. (See my product photo) Now, if it were a typical aftershave, that wouldn't be so bad, but Alt-Innsbruck is a VERY pungent cologne. A little goes a very long way, so proceed with caution. The cost of $35.00 for 100ml (3.38 oz) = >&10.00/oz. is expensive.Now to the scent. The big draw is their use of Virginia tobacco in the production. I am having a difficult time discerning the tobacco. My nose gets a fruity, floral, thick and heavy scent. I have since learned that it's not the tobacco LEAF that is used, but the flower of the tobacco plant. There is also a refreshing high note of menthol when first applied. The base notes are the tobacco flower. It's really an experience, this scent. I know of nothing similar.**Update**I have used this aftershave almost everyday since writing this review. I have grown to LOVE it. The scent is an acquired taste and low and behold..I acquired it. When I shave with a special edition shave cream: Tabula Rasa Steampunk, created especially for the members of the Shavenook Forum, with its cedar based scent, and finish with Alt-Innsbruck, I have reached shaving nirvana.I have changed my rating from 3 to 5 stars, although the bottle opening does allow too much product to flow.I can and do recommend this product enthusiastically.

I learned of Alt-Innsbruck through Bager and Blade and the Straight Razor Forum. It comes very highly recommended for those looking for the cooling after effect. I wouldn't normally use the word but the smell truly is intoxicating. light yet so delicious I cannot help but get excited for the end of a shave.

The media could not be loaded. It's definitely a simpler times aftershave so youngsters probably need not apply 😊 arrival time was very fast but for something altogether unique give it a try. Heard Alot of reviews saying that it has an old lady smell I sorta get that but only in one way you have to get all the notes in the aroma but I do like it. Your opinion may differ.

No doubt this is a polarizing fragrance but it is one I enjoy more and more as I use it. The fragrance is longer lasting than a typical aftershave. If you enjoy this fragrance, consider pairing it with Tabac shave soap.

The best aftershave on the market IMO. It does sting quite a bit compared to some others but is then complemented with an extremely soothing(some say a little too strong, but I like it a lot) menthol sensation immediately after that lasts for a bit.

Nicely packaged. One of the best smelling aftershaves out there. I would put it in the top 5 without question.

I'll be in the extreme minority with my review. This is going in my loser aftershave rotation - the ones I don't especially like.The product came much faster than anticipated, so I was grateful for that given how much the product was hyped, and how eagerly I was waiting for it.The smell is horrible, and very unmanly, IMO. I smell no menthol, no tobacco plant. It smells like old lady perfume. That sickening floral smell that's used by withered geriatric chain-smoking crones who bath in that smell to mask the nicotine nimbus which surrounds them. A straw poll amongst a few of my coworkers confirmed my impression of the scent.I was hoping it would smell different when applied. Sadly, I was disappointed again. After a delay I did get a powerful but quickly fading menthol blast without the menthol scent, leaving me to smell like an old lady.I did like the way the product made my face feel for hours afterward, which kept me from giving this one star.Your experience may be different, and again, I appear to be in the extreme minority, but I can't shake the cloying old lady perfume smell.

I really love it. It's floral and sweet. It dries nicely and I always want to slap on just a little more for more goodness. Totally addicted.
