Q: can this be cooked in my rice cooker like regular steel cut oats?

Peterforpats......no, this product is Porridge oats, NOT steel cut oats! You can choose to cook in the microwave which is what I do, 1/2 cup oats/1cup 1% for 2 min/15 sec. They are quick cooking. ONLY steel cut oats should be cooked for 40 to 45 min. If you want real Irish steel cut oats from Ireland, both Flanhavan's as well as McCann's makes them and they usually come in a neat decorative can.....I've got one of each. Quaker Oats also now makes a steel cut available in most groceries and I also buy them in the bulk section of my grocer for like half the price as all of the above. If you go to my reviews, you will see that I am in fact the Flanhavan queen. I buy the regular porridge above by the case @ Amazon. However, we've really been into the steel cuts now......just takes longer cooking, but so chewy and substantial.....quick oats are just that.....when you want them quick. Also, Jamie Deen has a recipe for steel cuts that we use from Food Network.com. Good recipe! Hope this helps.

Q: can these oats be frozen

Yes, but why do you want to freeze them, they keep well in the package they come in. Do you freeze sugar, flour etc? Just keep them in the cupboard and enjoy them in the mornings. Absolutely delicious!!!!!

Q: Is it gluten-free and dairy free?

It’s dairy free but not sure about gluten free. You would have to contact the company.

Q: How long is the expiration date on these?

The package I have now expires 8/26/17 so I would say a couple of years anyway.
