OSD 300W in Wall Volume Control Impedance Matching for Home Speakers, Slider White VMS300

I decided to replace my previous knob volume control (based on impedance matching) after one of the amplifier's channel of my Onkyo Receiver didn't work anymore, and I suspect that the culprit was the inductive coupling. So I decide to replace it by this resistive type, and this one, works perfect. One of the features I like is that has full volume at one end (direct connection, no resistors), meanwhile on the other end, the last step is disconnected (fully isolation of speakers), for great control. It comes with three different colors of covers and knobs to match your taste. It was easy to install, replacement was straightforward. Inputs/outputs on the device are well labeled and the screw connectors make it fast work, connectors also can be detached from the knob control, for easier cable hookup. Quick and easy to install in my previously placed 1 gang pre wire housing.Volume control works exactly as I had hoped and the turn knob is smooth and each click is easy to feel.A complete unexpected bonus is the three face plates and matching knobs and coated screws.Item comes pre-assembled in white but included are ivory and almond colored interchangeable faceplate/knob/screws.I would more honestly give the product 4 1/2 stars because one of the bracket mounting screws was defective and broke in half while threading it into wall gang box.

Unit works well. Discovered it is too long for some standard J-boxes. Need a deep one.

There’s a lot to like in this volume control. I love the design, and for the most part I like the implementation. I love the fact that they designed in removable terminal blocks (4-pin ea.) for input and output. This makes wiring this control much easier than a lot of others I’ve used which have fixed terminal connection. The terminals are also nicely silkscreened.The one thing that keeps this product from getting that fifth star, however – is that the retention force of those removable connectors is not that great. I would guess that these are Chinese terminal blocks, as the retentive force of most German terminal blocks are much better. Of course, German brand terminal blocks (ie Phoenix, Wago) cost a lot more as well.So my suggestion would be wait to tuck this unit into its gang box until you know that the total system is operating perfectly - and you can play music while buttoning up.In my case, I had a left speaker that was not working. After tracing the entire system, I finally checked the volume control and sure enough, one of the terminal blocks was loose.That being said, I would absolutely recommend this volume control. Just watch out for that one gotcha, and you’ll end up being very happy.

Besides being a quality product, I love that they include common trim colors (white, light beige and dark beige) including matching screws and knob colors. I have to purchase a few more of these. Just need to save up a few extra $$.

Review for: OSD Resistor Based 150W in Wall Volume Control for Home Speakers, Rotary Knob White VKR120This is working great to balance volume between two speaker systems, office and kitchen. Easy enough to install. Be aware, if you are going to put it in a 2x4 electrical box it must be a deep box. The device is about 2-1/2 inches deep, maybe a bit more.

I replaced all of my 50w with these 100w and the sound quality is much better. Recommend these to provide more volume and sound.

What I liked1. It came with different color face plates - wasn't a separate purchase2. The input and output wiring blocks were different colors - great aide to preventing miswire the volume control.3. it works!What I didn't like1. the wiring blocks once installed put the wires in towards the center of the volume control pressed up against the transformer creating a 90 degree angle to get the wires to clear the cut in mud ring. This puts strain on the wires to the wiring block, as well as strain on the wiring block to the mounting pins.2. the exposed circuit board. this is potentially a serious issue if your installing in a commercial environment that have metal mud rings. Definitely not coolWhat I'm on the fence aboutThe quality of the electronics is good, the nob and potentiometer doesn't feel like quality. But then again these aren't Niles or Russound and come in a 1/4 of the price. You get what you pay for.

My old controls had yellowed and were crackling when turned so I bought these as replacements. Very happy with the decora style and the soft touch when turning the controls. Quality seems excellent. I would buy again.

The volume control kit was delivered within a few days, works as promised with respect to the volume control and sound quality, and fits inside the rather small in-wall gang box I have in my place. I would certainly recommend this item.

This volume control works great!. The instructions are clear regarding how to connect the wires. If your wires are lableled... you can install the volume control in just a few minutes.
