I am an expert on shaving creams, foams, and soaps. I shave every day for 50+ years. Life's circumstanceshave necessarily altered which shaving lubricant/aid I use. I have previously used a shaving brush/soap for prolonged periods at least three times in my life. I chose to go there again in January 2021.The GBS set had two essential items - brush and shaving soap. The third item is the soap mug. The mug is well made and attractive but unnecessary - any small coffee mug will do. The badger hair brush is ultra-soft, though I wonder how the badgers ultimately fare. The soap foams quickly, and the shave is always smooth (with a good razor). I am still using the original soap, which after 13 months, still has 2-3 weeks of life left.The soap bar far outlasts shaving foams and creams by a factor of 3 or 4 and comes with a minimal waste wrapper. Pressurized metal shaving foam canisters or shaving cream plastic tubes are potentially recyclable but account for 100 or more times+ as much waste by volume or weight.I am in shaving heaven again and helping the planet. I'm sticking with GBS.

This is a nice set. Per my husband-The soap is creamy and gives a closer shave and moisturizes skin. I have to agree. Why change a good thing? Would purchase again.

I got this as a surprise for my husband. He had a "coffee cup" and an old brush that I was constantly hiding in the cabinet daily. This set is nice enough to leave out on the countertop (and I am very picky). He loves it and the soap that comes with it. I recommend.

This could have been broken because of the crappy package job Amazon does. The box was falling apart because Amazon threw it in one of their thin plastic bags instead of a padded box, but thankfully the glass mug was not broken. Not happy with Amazon!! The shaving mug is nice and heavy, brush seems thin & small. Hope hubby likes it.

Got tired of using cans of shaving cream that were likely ending up in a landfill so I decided to switch to this system. I was initially concerned about not getting the same amount of foaming as with the CVS gel, it actually works out better because I'm not pushing a lot of foam around my face with my electric razor. I get a great, close shave without any irritation. Could not be happier.

Love the memories this style of shaving brings back, plus an excellent shave

The bowl retains heat fairly well, the soap that comes with it works great, in fact better than a cream that I bought outside of this. The brush is good. I feel it is rather on the small side but its my starter so I have no real reference for how big they are supposed to be. I have had several shaves with it now and the brush looks like it did the day I got it. Have not seen a single strand come out of it so it seems to be very well built.
