Pounds flat and evenly. Comfortable to hold. I put the protein or whatever between plastic wrap. And be careful not to slam it into your counter. I bet it could cause a crack.

I saw George Motz use this on a video about smashburgers. I used this on my SnS Plancha, and I have to say it was super easy to use and these were the best smashburgers that I ever made. You just start in the middle and work your way to the edges. Flip using a spackle tool and OMG - Awesome !! It was well worth the price and you can feel the quality along with the non slip handle. I purchased this item, and have you used it to compress homemade pie crust but not its intended purpose as a meat pounder? So I can't speak to its fitness for purpose. It is pretty heavy, so it works perfectly for my purposes. The design is easy for me to hold, it has been simple to clean, and it doesn't take up too much space to store.

This will do most of the work for you. Very solid, with a nice grip so it doesn’t slide out of your hand.

Very pleased so far. Saw Alton Brown & Rachel Ray using a similar one. Decided to make my own Country Fried Steak. This worked very well. It's heavy, so you don't have to apply a lot of pressure. The smooth bottom doesn't destroy Saran wrap (sprinkle of water on Saran wrap helps more) & makes it easy to slide the tenderizer to break up fibers. Worth the price if it lasts.

If you really need to pound your meat, this is a great tool. Nice weight and good grip to get the job done, fast and efficiently.

I saw this meat pounder on America's Test Kitchen and decided to buy it because they recommended it. I'm glad I did because it works much better than the other kind with the long handles that have a tendency to fling stuff all over the place. This is a heavier meat pounder and is easier to use and certainly easier to clean.
