I’m very surprised that this kit is complete as to run the train or indeed move anything
The presentation of the box is excellent and when unwrapped, I’m sure that any boy (or girl!) would be over the moon to receive this as a present. When you open it though, it is not possible after assembling the parts, to get it running. This is because as others have remarked above that a simple controller is required to power the set. Without the controller, the system has no power and just will not function at all so having unpacked all the items all you can really do is to look at it. Before you can get it to move, you’ve got to buy a basic controller from Hornby, which I think is around £60. It seems to be not just penny pinching but completely thoughtless of the disappointment after opening what would be a typical wonderful present.

I was very disappointed with the set, not having a power controller in the box for the price of the train set I was very disappointed had to spend a nother £50 pounds to get the power controller
