Q: Will it work on 32' ladder?

Werner specs it as a replacement for ladders up to 40', so you will probably want to trim it, but it should work fine on a 32' ladder. The rope is 40' long - I don't know why everyone makes it so hard to find that information. (Amazon is worse than the big-box home improvement store web sites, but no one just comes right out and says explicitly that the rope is 40' long.)

I used it on a 36' and had quite a bit of extra length.

Great question. I don't see a single rope on Amazon, only a 4 pack at $60, which works out to $15 per rope. I say if you can get them at the prices you quoted go for it, and thanks for reminding me to do more due diligence before I make a purchase.

Q: What is the diameter of the rope?

It's been a while since I installed the rope on my ladder, but I'm pretty sure it's 5/16".
