Great
American Dad is, of course, the other long-running animated show created by Seth McFarlane. It tells the story of a CIA agent and his quirky family living in Langly Falls Virginia. Like with the Family Guy DVD releases, the American Dad DVD sets are released as "volumes" so it can be confusing which season of the show corresponds to which volume(s). In this case, Volume 9 contains all of the season 8 episodes of the show. The series continues to utilize a story (or stories) of the week format. Usually, the story involves some character or Roger (the alien living with the family) and one or two of the other family members. For example, in the season premiere, Roger hires Haley to sing in his bar after hearing her sing in the shower. Although sometimes, an episode will be more Stan-centric, either involving his CIA co-workers or meddling in the lives of one of the other members of the family (such as trying to break up Steve and Snot's friendship because Snot is not cool). The DVD release is an Amazon-exclusive MOD release. So, it just has the episodes and no extras. However, the episodes are uncensored, so the jokes are sometimes dirtier, and swear words are not bleeped out as they are in the broadcast and streaming versions. But, if you only get DVD sets when there is a lot of bonus material, then you may just want to stick with streaming the show.Overall, the series continues to be funny even though, like Family Guy, it is getting a bit long in the tooth. As the years have gone on, the series has changed the focus being Stan's job, which in some ways has been good and in other ways (e.g., with some of the crazy apocalyptic episodes) has not been so good. By this time into the show's run, however, you pretty much know what you are getting. If you like it, you will probably enjoy this season. If you don't then this season is probably not going to make you a fan.

As Good As Advertised
There are some areas that look cheaply done, such as the DVD case, the DVDs, and the main menu, especially in comparison to previous American Dad volumes on DVD. But the only reason to even buy American Dad DVDs is for the uncensored episodes, and the episodes are indeed uncensored. The reason why I’m leaving a review is to confirm that this volume is the real deal. They definitely could have done a better job with the main menus, disc design, and case design, but the episodes are all that matters and it’s as advertised. As for the show, it’s hilarious. Watch it!

Beware of dry air causing static cling, lol.
I like this animated series. Roger makes this series funny, like how Stewie makes Family Guy great. So anyhow, I had issues with disc 2. Two episodes would stop halfway through playing, and one episode seemed missing entirely. I brushed the disc off with a lens cleaning brush and this time the missing episode was there upon replay. But now these three troublesome episodes would stop at different chapters than before. A visual inspection of the disc revealed no contaminants on the disc .. however, it was very dry in the house with the AC running on this warm humid day outside. So, I assumed because of the dry air, static cling was probably holding some contaminant onto the disc that I couldn't clearly see. I took the disc into the humid garage and dusted it off again and that did the trick.I'm guessing the static cling caused by the dry air conditioned indoors air was making it difficult to brush something off the disc that I could not see, possibly a thin cat hair spanning these three episodes (they were consecutive in sequence).Resolving this issue made me happy. Logical deduction trouble shooting saved me from having to unnecessarily return this Volume 9 set of discs.

Roger the alien is the best
I have loved "American Dad" from its inception. This series has never gotten its full due as it has been forced to somewhat remain in the "Family Guy's" shadow. In my opinion Lois & Peter Griffin on "Family Guy" are selfish, unloving orifices. "American Dad" has Stan & Francine, who love ALL of their children. Each is flawed, but they love. Roger is the best animation character on television today. This show is so clever. I hope that TBS keeps this show running for more than just an additional season. Fox was stupid for dropping this.

surprised that this is an MOD
Kinda surprised that this is an MOD. I just got the box set and i turn the discs around to see the horrid purple backing of the disc and when i turned it around, it wasnt purple, im kinda happy about thatEDIT: The only thing wrong with this box set (for me that is) is that some things are censored and others aren't. One episode would have a bleep or two then the next episode have no bleeps and all middle fingers are blurred out. But still a good box set for me
