Are there any markings on the tube: that indicate how much water i can safely add?....or do i still have to guess how much waters in the tank.

There are NO markings on the sight glass tube....However this is how I solved your problem. What I've done is take a black permanent marker and put lines on the sight glass housing in 1/2 inch increments starting 3/4 inch below the top rounded opening of the sight glass. At the top line mark "F" meaning full. Every 1/2 inch increment equals 1 cup of water. If the water is down 5 marks add 5 cups of water.to the upper reservoir. If you mark your sight glass like this you won't be guessing how much water to refill. KEEP IN MIND...I have a TRAVEL BERKEY. The Big Berkey and other Berkey sizes will probably have different inch marking increments...such as 3/8 inch per 1 cup of water. You should put masking tape on the sight glass housing and get accurate increment measurements before using the marker on the aluminum. Good luck and have a great day.

Is the plastic BPA free?

Most people don't realize that anything that says "BPA Free" has been replaced with BPS, which is 10 times more toxic than BPA ever was. When people discovered that BPA was bad, they stopped buying plastics and canned goods. Manufacturers were already using the least toxic of chemicals in the can liners etc and that was BPA. Manufacturers felt forced to remove it to appease people. But what people are getting in return is way worse.

Does this include the washers and nuts for mounting?

Yes, it does. The spigot itself is larger than the one that comes on the Berkey (so the water comes out faster which is nice) so it comes with it's own washers and nut. It's a worthwhile addition...

I am looking to buy big berkely with boroux stainless steel spigot ,and glass water level spigot alterations? how and what to do?

If you have a Berkey container just unscrew the old one and insert the new one. If you are making your own water filter from a pot just drill a hole and insert the new spigot, it comes with a rubber seal. Takes two minutes.
