Q: The description says gsm cell technology, however, also says it will work with verizon [cdma tech]. are both correct?

Verizon will be phasing out their 3G network on CDMA by 12/31/22. This will also includes basic 4G using CDMA which doesn't support VoLTE. The Moto G Power (2022) does support VoLTE as does Verizon so this device will work with Verizon. VoLTE is nothing more than 4G LTE which includes bands 1, 2, 3, 5, 7, 8, 12, 13, 14, 17, 25, 26, 29, 30, 38, 41, 66, 71 . Verizon is currently moving away from CDMA to 4G LTE (VoLTE) exclusively. Consequently, Keeping it simple, Verizon is predominantly using 4G LTE (VoLTE). However, some customers are still limited to only their restrictive CDMA bands which are mainly in rural areas of the US where cell phone overage is limited. This should cease to be an issue by 12/31/22. That's why you see the main reference to GSM in the advertising. However. stating GSM only isn't really accurate. It's actually the bands supporting VoLTE is how the connectivity of the device really should be stated. I hope this information helps.

Q: Phone box security tapes with cut is that expected?

I've had this happen twice with this phone, exchanged the first one and the replacement came with security tape cut as well... Best buy has the same phone for the same price and it comes in an unopened box!

Either 1111 or 1234 but typically there is no default pin
