In Conversation with God: Meditations for Each Day of the Year (7 Volume Set)

The meditations on the readings are outstanding and provide much to reflect upon. Beautifully insightful and also challenging.I did notice something however, as I was reading the daily readings for Year B which we are in now (2024), it appears that the daily readings did not match with the readings posted on the USCCB liturgical calendar. I didn't realize the following:"The weekday cycles for the readings in the Catholic Church are divided into two years, Year I and Year II:Year I: Used in odd-numbered years, such as 2021 and 2023Year II: Used in even-numbered years, such as 2022 and 2024."UPDATE:Always learning, just a bit slow on the uptake! The Gospel readings are the same for the weekday readings of Year I and Year II, just the other readings change, so now I'm caught up. 😊We are currently in Year II for the weekday readings, but I can only find Year I in this collection. That certainly is not a deal breaker, I still love this series and will continue reading it daily, I was just confused when the readings didn't match up. If I am incorrect about this, I hope someone will be kind enough to correct me!

This is a series of books that accompany the readings and feast days Liturgically in the Catholic Church. Books are well made, great meditations that correspond with the daily church readings. One of my favorite purchases. Each book comes with a beautiful book jacket, ribbon for placement and sturdy pages. Love my purchase ❤️

If you are interested in delving more deeply into the details of the daily scripture readings, and want to know what saints and theologians have to say on those topics, these volumes are great. The entries are thought-provoking and help lead me into prayer. I am one who does not respond very enthusiastically to meditations based on the writer's own reflections - such as applying the scripture to the writer's daily difficulties with family or work. I prefer meditations that are more universal, and point to the teachings handed down through doctrine and tradition, and that is what these books offer. They are also well written and easy to understand even when tackling complex issues. I encourage those who might be interested in these volumes to take a look at the samples and see if these writings speak to you. Multiple samples are available by looking at the individual Kindle volumes.The only negative I've found so far is that I've had a couple of days where the designated reading clearly did not match up to the topics in the scripture for that day. I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong but hopefully I can figure it out. I did not remove a star because I presume this was my mistake, but it would be good if the publisher provided a dated calendar on its website that could help point the way for those who get lost. The readings were still nice, but it was frustrating not to find the right text.

Extremely thoughtful and still timely reflections, tied to daily Mass readings. Great way enrich your daily Mass attendance.

The results pretty much speak for themselves.I bought this because I saw an outrageous review where someone claimed that this book series, were it all a faithful person had on a deserted island, would build that person's faith so strongly that they'd almost assuredly be able to get to Heaven.Well, I was in transition from lukewarm cafeteria catholic to mildly curious....as was my mother, with whom I still had quite a few issues from my growing up years.It has been MIND BLOWING how often it seems as if each day, EVERY YEAR, is responding to some thought I was having just then, or is giving me an idea that helps me to resolve something that I hadn't even been able to put into words.My faith has just skyrocketed and my mother's as well and our relationship is the most marvelous, beyond what I could have imagined.My only problem is that if I want to copy it I have highlighted so much that it would be distracting to anyone to whom I sent it.God works in an infinite variety of ways and just as He knows how many feathers are upon the sparrow, and supplies it food and shelter, so He can inspire a saint and the saint's followers to write something so amazing that its reach is beyond the limit of one's imagination...and yet virtually perfect and intimately shaped to feed the hungry heart of every reader.I'd love it to be audio or online, they may be working on that. I was tempted to do it myself because it is so priceless!Every year it will grow with you.God is amazing in ways that are profound, beautiful and so loving.

10 stars if I could. These reflections are amazing. Touches my soul. I wanted to order a year ago when I first heard about it. Worth the investment! Reflections are so rich and deep yet not difficult. Year A, B and C options are shown for Sundays. Books for Advent/Christmas and Lent/Easter and 3 volumes for ordinary time and 2 for feast days/holy days. Easy to navigate. Readings themselves are not included, just about 6 pages of reflection for each days readings. What a gift this set is for all Christians.
