Simple fix 2
The ruler is compact when folded and easy to read. To make the ruler rigid when open put clear packing tape on the back over the hinge. Open the ruler and lay it face down on a flat surface. Put a few inches of clear packing tape over the hinge lengthwise on the bottom of the ruler. Press the tape down in the grooves so it sticks securely. Now the ruler still folds up just fine but when open it is flat and rigid enough to accurately measure fish. One other fix. To make the ruler float cut a thin piece of closed cell sheet packing foam and tape or glue it in the narrow center groove on the back of the ruler when it is open. It still closes and now it floats!

Nice fold up ruler
This is my second one. It folds up to a nice size and I keep it in my tackle bag. l used my first one for years and was still readable. This is a plastic ruler and the fish stop broke (I think I stepped on it). It’s lightweight and pretty durable for a plastic ruler. Good price.

Good, but...
This ruler is great for packing in the tackle bag. My only issue is that it does not lock at the hinge, so you will have to lay the ruler on a sturdy flat surface to get the most accurate measurements. I got this to use on my kayak where there are no flat surfaces. I can still get use out of it, just not for what I intended to.

Great Little Ruler
It's plastic but it works. Mounted one on my boat and keep one in my tackle bag. For the price, you really can't go wrong.
