Absolute Superman / Batman 1

This book contains two great recent Superman/Batman stories. In my opinion the stories contained here are far better than what is going to be in vol 2. "Historically" it is also quite important as it brings the real Supergirl Kara Zor-El back into the continuity.I had some doubts that Ed McGuinness's art would look nice in this oversized volume, but I was wrong. It looks fantastic. Same with Michael Turner of course whose art has been seen in absolute sized books before.

I love my Absolute editions, but these darn things can be so pricey. Nobody has this kind of money to splurge for the sake of art. Anyways, I brought this strictly for Michael Turner and Michael Turner only. I could care less about the other artists that pencils issues 1 - 7. Don't get me wrong, he is also a talented artists, but my main drive to buy this was for Turner who pencils issues 8 - 13. Those 6 issues are captured here in this giant-sized Absolute edition in all its glory. Those issues contain the entire Batman/Superman/Supergirl story arc.Not much else to be said except this is a must-have for all comic book collectors and fans of Michael Turner. He is a true talent that passed away too soon. His artwork will forever live on in his published works. Michael Turner, I will always love your artwork and I am so grateful for all the joy and happiness you gave everyone in the world by allowing us to see your world and beauty through your talents eyes.

Absolute Superman/ Batman was a great read. Just started reading graphic novels again after seeing Batman/Superman public enemies and Apocalypse. The novel has much detail and better understanding into the relationship of two greatest suoer heroes.

Beautiful presentation and art work on this item, here. Bought this for my brother as he is a HUGE fan of Batman and Superman comics and he was bowled over with joy upon receiving this. My only gripe was that the item was very slightly damaged when I received it. Not sure if this was caused before or after the shipping. If I'm going to pay $100 for a special edition comic book, I'd like to receive it in the best condition possible. Other than that, it was wonderful.

Awesome love the "Absolute" format!

Absolute Superman/Batman Volume I contains some of the best stories starring both Superman and Batman that I've read in the past half century or so. Absolute Superman/Batman Volume I showcases not only their vast differences, but their vast admiration for each other, making their friendship sophisticated yet endearing, surpassing all other comic book friendships for enjoyability except perhaps that of Charles Xavier and Eric Lehnsherr (Magneto). While Absolute Superman/Batman Volume I inspired two DC animated movies, Superman/Batman: Public Enemies and Superman/Batman: Apocalypse, it exceeds both movies substantially in plot, character development and even action. I rarely respond much to the artwork in comic books, but I have to say that this super-sized edition, replete with its own slipcover box and built-in bookmark, really makes the artwork sizzle. This is one of the best comic book collections I've ever read, well worth the price.

Great stories, fabulous art. Little disconcerting to have different artists across stories, but I can accept that. What is unacceptable is poor binding. Hardly any glue used on binding thus the book is splitting apart in a number of places. This happened to me on Hush where the book completely fell out of the binding, DC must do a better job on these expensive books. How long will our fat Omnibuses last? I have no concerns with Marvel binding.
