Really great!!!
I left it outside hoping to provide a warm dry cozy spot for a stray cat that was roaming in my backyard. The shelter worked wonders but a raccoon moved in first. The shelter was REALLY cozy and warm and safe. So much mamma raccoon gave birth to 4 babies in there.I’ve seen comments about the size not being big enough for a cat and idk. I think I got the medium and that mamma raccoon was HUGE and she fit there most comfortably

Extra large IS extra large!
I've had to buy two of these now. The first one I bought for the feral cats who hang on our back patio. I bought another because the indoor cats were sad once the first one I bought went out of doors. First thing I'd like to note is how big this thing is. I wasn't expecting it to be as large as it is and that's a good thing! Our biggest cat, coming in at 19 pounds, fits easily inside of it. EASILY. I bought this large size specifically for the two ferals we have ,as both of them are pretty big. Currently they snuggle in a heated bed on top of the "cat house" we built a couple of winters ago for another feral cat (who is now an indoor cat). The patio covering is quite deep, so they are already out of the elements, but I wanted the boys to be able to get out of the biting cold wind that cranks up here in New Mexico when winter arrives. So I bought this larger house and placed it inside of wooden structure. Well, so far, Shadow and Charlie won't go in it so I just keep throwing cat nip and treats inside of it, and they WILL go in it, but since they are TNR cats, they are hesitant to set up shop for any length of time. I'm hoping they realize they aren't going to be trapped and that the swank new house is a good place to be. As I said above, the indoor cats think it's great. With the offset door opening, they can gain a little more privacy. This cat bed has a kind of thin fleecy thing on the bottom and I would suggest throwing in a little fleece blanket or something like that. I've also placed it on a flat memory foam pet bed to give the bottom a little more cushion as opposed to being on the hard floor. NOW to address whether I would put this thing in the direct elements. I would not do it. It has elastic and little "tent" pegs to "secure" it to the ground/lawn, but I place no faith in the pegs or the elastic and I would only put this in an area that is covered or partially covered. I'm quite sure that snow or rain would cause this to collapse and in a very strong wind might be able to take it away if there were no cats inside. I would only use this indoors, or as I said, on a porch or patio with a covering. Your results may vary. So, to sum, I am happy with this, but I'd look for something more rigid if you plan on putting it outdoors unprotected. If that makes sense.

Work well through winter and rain!
This has gotten the homeless cat at work through the harsh winter this year and still now through the wet spring! He loves it so much and I stuffed it with some straw hay. He's been able to stay safe ever since. I got s large one, it's big enough for 3 large cats comfortably. I didn't realize how big it was going to be, but it works just fine!

Not Built to Last
It seems well built. The roof canopy sags and if it is used outdoors, when it gets wet, it basically collapses. I placed a piece of cardboard curved along the roof canopy to help support it which seemed to work. Most of the ferals tend to avoid it. A kitten or two wandered into it, but definitely did not make a home of it. It actually became a frequent target of all the tom cats to mark whenever they came into the yard. Almost 16 months to the day after putting it into service, I am putting it to pasture. It is almost impossible to clean. Over that time, I've run it through the wash twice - most recently today. And when the spin cycle ended, it was like a stuffing confetti bomb had gone off inside the washer's drum. It served a purpose, but I would not buy again.

Highly Recommended
This was purchased for a neighborhood cat that occasionally comes to our house, sometimes in bad weather. It looks great and is perfect in that it is water and wind proof with a blanket built in.

Not as sturdy as it looks
Update: only 1 cat went inside this shelter for 1 or 2 nights this past winter. It has been in my shed now for months and it still stinks like rubber. If I could get rid of the terrible smell I would try a little harder to make this usable outdoors but no cat will feel "safe" in this flimsy, unstructured cat house and it stinks too bad to have indoors. ......... This little pet shelter is not as stiff or sturdy as it looks in the picture. CONS: 1) It has absolutely no internal framing. It comes folded and rolled up so the folds and creases stay even once its open and it doesnt quite stay opened up on its own. I took wires out of an old pop up hamper, cut a slit and ran them into the front and back to give it some structure. That worked ok but I would not say this is stray cat friendly unless you have a protected porch or patio to put it on. Anything could just jump on top and smush it. Its also very light-weight and could blow away with the wind. If my neighborhood stray cat likes it I'll probably screw it into some plywood to keep it from rolling around. 2) It stinks SO BAD. It smells like its off- gassing rubber products. It gave me a headache after 30 minutes of working to alter it. I ran it thru the clothes washer 2X with unscented soap and vinegar and 2X thru a full dryer cycle and that helped but smell still wasnt totally gone. I'll update after its been on my porch a while. I can see why a pet with sensitive nose would not want to go near it.PROS: 1) for the price its decent size and material. There is very little padding. I had my own bed I wanted to use in it which helps it stay more open. 2) the material does seem like it will be rain-proof and thats what I need on my porch. 3) its totally washable & dryable.FYI. The pic shows the door/opening on the left. It's not, its on the right when looking atthe front.
