Not sure on the weight but it hold kitty litter with no issues. I would think a boxed item would create tears

Yes it does include the handle. These bags are great. There basically the same size as you would have gotten from your grocery store.

Will these bags hold liquid? Or do they have holes in the bottom?

YES, they leak, for certain. By now you probably know this. They are slow to leak, but given a few days with something wet at the bottom, they will seep. I use them for garbage rather than paper trash & they do leak. And someone just drew notice to the fact that they are only 49.28% biodegradable after 900 days, as written on the bag, under the tree. 3 years ago I bought a box of 500 for $40; now they are $90 for 500. how thick are the bags

I have no way of measuring them as you asked but can assure you they are thicker than the average grocery plastic bag from my experience. Very pleased with these bags and save them for special times.
