Q: are these black walnuts or english walnuts

These are English walnuts. If you enjoy black walnuts, as I do, Amazon sells them also. I got fantastic black walnuts from a company in Missouri sold on Amazon. They are expensive but really taste like home, if you grew up with black walnuts. These Kirkland walnuts are English and are very mild, delicious and high quality. I use them for pumpkin bread and oatmeal cookies , etc., especially if I’m going to share. I keep the black walnuts for family:) Good luck!

Q: Are these whole walnuts and are they salted?

They are halfs and mine were not salted, there were a few that were broken but that's to be expected. I would give them 5 stars. Mine were nice and fresh as well.
