Simply a stunning product and ideal if you are trying cut back on the booze
I have been quite sceptical about non or low alcoholic spirts and over the last 12 months have tried quite a few and have until now been disappointed. New London Light is in a league of its own. I love Salcombe Gin and having read two brilliant reviews of their new non-alcoholic spirit in The Times and The Telegraph by acclaimed wine critics, I just had a buy a bottle.Like most people, I have probably over indulged during lockdown, so in an attempt to cut back a little, I have been on the hunt for a replacement that makes you feel that you aren't missing out. I am pleased to report that I have found it. It is simply delicious. Serve with a light tonic water, a slice of orange and a sage leaf (if you have one to hand). I really like adding a small dash of orange bitters too.I know some people are critical about non-alcoholic spirits and the cost, particularly considering there is no duty to pay, but what most people fail to recognise is the cost to produce high quality non-alcoholic spirits is actually higher than the cost to produce a gin and technically it is far more challenging without having alcohol there to carry all the flavours and aromas. If you were to add the cost of duty and VAT on top of duty to the price, you would end up at about the same price as for a bottle of gin, which kinda makes sense. The liquid is really very special, and I feel quite virtuous drinking it and no fuzzy head the following morning. Brilliant. If only non-alcoholic wines tasted this good!

Bitter beauty
Okay, so this one’s definitely for those who prefer bitter drinks. If you’re more Campari than Aperol, this may be for you. Firstly, it’s its own thing, so don’t expect it to be an alcohol free something else. We’ve recently been trying the full First Light range and this was by far mine and my 10 year old’s favourite. We mix it as per instructions 1/3 Aegean to 2/3 light tonic (fever tree). Maybe less tonic to taste. Big ice cube and sprig of rosemary from the garden, and it’s so lovely.

The mid week answer for a G&T!
Working from home and home schooling children has taken it strain this year and not reaching for the gin most nights has been hard. This 0% alc alternative has been the answer my wife and I have needed, to help us de-stress in the evening with out any negative effects added to another day of home schooling. I was initially very sceptical but this has really changed my view on this category. We drank this with Fevertree light tonic and its lovely. It smells of juniper and citrus that is reminiscent of the G&T's we are very fond of usually, it even has a slight warmth when drinking it.This is now a firm favourite in our house and I can highly recommend it. We have enjoyed it so much my next job is to order another bottle.

Tastes DREADFUL - the Emperor's New Clothes of alcohol-free spirits - but supplier was BRILLIANT
I love gin; all gin; I love Cornish gin. But 'New London Light' by Salcombe Distilling Company is the Emperor's New Clothes of alcohol-free spirits (it's even worse than Sipsmith's alc-free, which is an achievement). It is brilliantly marketed, fowl-tasting water that someone left something horrid in for an hour. Save yourself a LOT of money (it's ridiculously expensive, especially when you remember, there's no Alcohol Duty on it!!) - buy something else! The 'distiller' refused to accept their water back, but the supplier was wonderful - no trouble, fully refunded.

Weak
I am trying different non alcoholic gins and I found this one disappointing and weak in flavour.

Great Taste!
I can wholeheartedly recommend this superb non alcoholic gin, served with a good quality tonic e.g Fevertree it makes a wonderful G&T. The pub we go to in our area serves it in a long glass with some raspberries and redcurrants in it, lovely, lovely, lovely.
