Funny and entertaining
This movie is very under rated for the quality of the movie. It's a movie for the family. You won't have sex scenes, gore, or vulgar language to worry about. I found it interesting and funny. I love steel...probably my favorite part of the movie lol. The movie will be a bit slower since it's like all super hero movies with an origin story movie as the 1st movie in a possible series. (like spider man w/ toby mcguire, iron man, or power rangers 2017.) The creators have to give back story, but not too much or you lose the mystery of their powers so it moves along slow. Then when it all becomes clear it's practically the end of the movie and you have a bunch of action. I would be willing to watch a sequel if they ever make it so I can see more funny antics with max and steel.

{RENTED Not Purchased} Not Bad For A Mattel Charactor Based Movie
Max Steel I Have to admit that I did like this Movie, I was always in to all the super hero comics and cartoons as a kid and I got away from them as I got older in my teens and beyond. Yet I did keep a lose eye on some more than others, and even watched the old Batman series til it was taken off the air, but Max Steel I never did hear of, I will have to my research on it, I no longer have little ones they have grown up and not really in to many of the cartoons or comics. The kid in me though saw this for what it is, a great movie that is family friendly with no fowl four letter words being spewed from start to finish, no outlandish and overly sexual scenes or costumes that are overly sexually suggestive and in my honest option that is getting a bit old and tired really. If you have young-ins that are still in to cartoons and comics I would recommend this as family night movie, I guess they rated it PC-13 due to some gun fire and the fighting towards the end, NO this not a marvel movie and I did not expect it to be like one and yet Max the teenager does not look like one, he looks to be more like in his early 20's but I would say "Ben Winchell" played the character fairly well with the writing that he was given, but then again I have not heard of him til this movie. Yes the scripting could have been better with the way the writers had the movie play out, they could have added at least another 10 minutes to the movie to give you some kind of back story as to how it starts out, but they chose to use flash backs and bad dreams kind of, to give the back story of how, what, why of how this character game to be and where the character and story arc goes. I hope that they are able to continue with the story and develop the character "Max Steel" but they will have to get a bit more creative with the writing, there were no real plot twists in this movie and that would have made it a bit more interesting, but they need to keep the family friendly aspect, that is if they are planning to release another movie. What I also liked is that they did not have in your face advertising for what ever like they did in the last few marvel movies. It was the good fashioned good guy vs Bad guy super hero movie, like the original superman movies were, the CGI was okay and not over the top or filled all kinds of gadgets and scifi mumbo jumbo techno babel that can at times make ya head hurt and just kinda ruin things at times if not done just rite, honestly there really was no need for it anyway. This is not star trek, it had a fair amount of humor and that to was bit lame at times and it could have been better. The story was okay it could have been a bit better and again it came down to the writing of the script, I think that is where it fell short for those none young-ins, I'm trying not to give up any spoilers here for those that did not see it yet, but would like to, the way I see it this was made for the young-ins and for parents to have a good movie to watch and not worry about, will I have to hit pause or fast forward and cover the child's eyes and ears. Have a good Movie night with ya young-ins that are in to these kind of super hero movies.

Toy to Cartoon to Live Action, Hmm.
My biggest complaint is the same as with most super hero "first" movies. DON'T CARE ABOUT THEIR ORIGIN...JUST GIVE US A STORY. Other than that, it wasn't bad. Not gonna write home about it but it wasn't a waste of time. Nothing wrong with the acting. The story was cliche but I could look past that because it wasn't stupid. I find taste in movies is a very personal thing. Millions of people liked the Austin Powers movies while I can't sit through them. This was a pretty good kid story (not small kids but preteen and up). The pacing was good enough I didn't sit around hoping it would be over soon and there was never a time when I wanted to stop watching and go do something else. Three stars, for me, means it's an okay film but not one I want to turn around and watch again.Hope this helps.

Reveals the story of Max Steel
When my son was a kid back in the 1990's, I bought GI Joe and Max Steel dolls for him. I had no idea what the story line of the Max Steel character was. Now I know.I like the movie. It's a good SciFi. The kid playing Max is quite skilled and believable in his role. The alien named Steel was a cool surprise. The bad guy was obvious, but the movie revealed his character and why he was bad.The mother was the big surprise at the end.Overall, Max Steel is a good clean action Scifi.

Good superhero movie, for it's time
Considering this was from 2016'ish, this is actually pretty good. It's not too campy, or overly serious, they have good voice actor for Steel. Some of the special effects are actually VERY good, some of the other 'super hero' stuff shows its age but the fighting is better than some current "choppy editing styles" so while not the best it is far from distracting or poorly done. All the actors seem to do well with their roles and there's a good cohesive "style" to the setting. It does start off a bit slow and there's no "major arc/story/plot" for almost all of Act 1 so it feels lacking till things start to pick up. It's a good family-friendly super hero movie that doesn't overstep its range and keeps it fun enough for most kids.
