Very nice way to learn
I really loved the puzzles , beautiful overall the only but I can remark is the fact that the material isn't thick enough to last long , specifically as a puzzle that's supposed to be done over and over again , anyway they're brilliant puzzles.

Not ideal for first time learners
Like some other reviews, I found these cards weren't ideal for their intended purpose. The font used on the cards, especially the L card, looks like a 1, and my toddler was adamant it was a 1. Some of the images to go with the word can also be confusing. V is for Voice features a picture of the Mouse, which confused my son a bit at first. Some of the words definitely feel like an afterthought such as, X is for Xmas, it just feels a bit lazy and not ideal. My toddler does have a few favourite cards, Z is for Zoom and U is for Upside Down.It feels like if they had opened it up and used words from across all the film versions of the Donaldson/Scheffler books and improved the font these could have been really great, and I'd have happily paid a bit more. They are lovely to look at and perfect if you've got a little flashcard lover, who wants to absorb as much knowledge as possible. Each card is a good size, brightly coloured and the illustrations are of a high standard too. The words used are different from standard flashcards, so they are quite a nice way to introduce more words. Each deck also comes with game/activity cards each of these has lovely standalone illustrations on the back. I thought these might look very nice framed in a nursery/Gruffalo-themed bedroom maybe and are probably worth the price alone if that's what you're after. However, my son loves looking at them and since playing with them has been able to identify some of the background items (e.g. butterflies/bats) from the cards in other Donaldson/Scheffler books, so that's been a surprise bonus. It's also helped to encourage discussion, supporting his language development, on the pages of these books about the illustrations, e.g. the bats are upside down.I paid around £3.50 for these. They're nicely presented and would make a nice small extra gift for a Gruffalo fan or a stocking filler. Overall I wouldn't recommend them or buy them again if I had the option, but if they're on sale for around £2 they might be worth the money.

Not the best for new readers
I was disappointed in the font they use for the letters. They have used a very 'fancy' type of font so the letters have lots of flicks etc which is very hard for a young child to use when just starting out learning the basic letters. For eg the letter g looks very different, and the letter l is essentially a number 1. So my son gets a little confused! I will be writing my own letters on them to show what he will actually be learning at school. The only other thing is some of the examples are not necessarily the best choice in teaching a child the sound the letter makes. For 'e' they have used the gruffalo's 'eyes' which is not really the usual sound an e would be used for.The pictures are great and my son does enjoy them. But it is a little confusing to use them as a first introduction to letters and sounds.
