This is the bed frame you want. Stop looking. Just buy this one! SERIOUSLY!
I agonized for what felt like weeks on what new queen-sized frame to buy to put underneath the new mattress I was planning to purchase. My previous one was a no-name brand all-metal frame from here on Amazon that didn't go together well at all (numerous holes not lined up properly- not drilled properly, etc), and began to squeak 3-4 months in. It also wasn't supportive enough for my previous mattress, and I just never slept well enough with the combination at all.So here I am looking over all these frames here on Amazon, and the Z-brand comes up quite often. Lots and lots of good reviews, but also many poor ones suggesting terrible quality control or issues that arise over time. I'd looked at these KD Frames beds on and off, but I wasn't sure if I wanted to get an unfinished bed, so I kept looking and looking. Finally, I ran across a Wirecutter review of platform bed frames and this one was one of their favorites. I've had great luck with Wirecutter recommendations, so I finally just bit the bullet and said alright, we're gonna try this one. I decided on one without a headboard, so that if I didn't feel like staining it I could just hide it under a bed frame (the light color wood wouldn't match the other furniture in my bedroom, so if I went with one with a headboard I would have *had* to have stained it).The bed came today, perfectly packed in a very heavy box. I opened it downstairs and brought the individual pieces upstairs, laying them out in preparation for assembly. I gave a quick once-over to the instructions, and went at it. WHAT A BREEZE. Now, I'm fairly handy, but I think anyone, even someone without any carpentry skills whatsoever could put this thing together. Everything was cut accurately, drilled precisely, and extremely well thought out for how this thing was to go together. I didn't time myself, but it did not take long to put together at all.As I was putting it together, I *knew* this frame was going to be sturdy, and boy I was not wrong. This thing is so well made -- and so thoughtfully designed, that I'll probably own it for the lifespan of multiple mattresses. It's really that good. And I'm not paid to say that. I'm just THAT impressed with the quality that I'm sitting here in my new bed writing a long and glowing review.Regarding the wood-- some reviews mentioned it was rough, but mine was not. It looked like nice, smooth poplar. Which, btw, popular is a gorgeous wood. I built a spice rack out of poplar a few years ago and it was great to work with-- and it took a dark stain really well, so I know if I do end up staining this it's gonna look gorgeous. But as I mentioned above, for now its hidden under a bed skirt (which is truly a shame given how nice it looks). There were no knots in any of the wood, no imperfections, nothing of the sort. Their manufacturing and quality control processes are definitely top notch.I also want to note, I love the way this thing goes together. You're not screwing directly into the wood-- instead, you put a "nut" in a pre-drilled slot and you're screwing a fastener into it. All bolts and fasteners seem to be high quality metal. This means if you ever need to take this thing apart, move it, and put it back together again you don't have to worry about weakening the wood or wondering if the screws are gonna keep holding tight, etc. This system is great. Now, I will admit I am writing this review without even having slept on the bed yet, and I *will* come back and update this review if I find any issues with the bed in the coming months-- but I honestly don't believe that'll be the case. This is a superior, high quality REAL WOOD bed frame that is going to last. It's rare to see, but KD Frames has knocked this thing out of the park. I'm confident in that.

Nomad 2 Platform Bed - Full Size Plus - Updated Version
I was skeptical at first in getting this platform bed frame. However, after reading all of the positive reviews I decided to go for it. The frame came in one long box that weighed about 70 pounds. I'm not a big guy at 5 - 6' and 145 pounds but I guess because the box was on the narrow side, I had no problem wrapping my arms around the box and carrying it up 21 steps into my townhouse. It was actually easier than getting my sit on top kayak up the flight of stairs.I was well prepared in assembling this bed frame. For starters, while researching this product, I found some YouTube KD Frames assembly videos. I suggest anyone getting this frame to check out their videos. Caution, if you don't like Classical Music, be prepared to shut off the sound. My assembly took longer than usual because I decided to stain the outer frame pieces before I assembled the frame. For those of you who want a uniform looking bed frame, you might want to steer clear of this frame. This is a natural wood product. You can't predict what type of wood you will get and if you stain it, it will highlight all of the woods grains, shades, and flaws. Luckily, I like the look of natural wood and in my package, there were decent looking pieces for the outside frame. Like the directions suggested, I went with a lighter color stain just to give it a more golden color. Poplar wood is really porous in nature so I used stain conditioner before I stained it to give it a more even color. Because of the humid weather we've been having in Hawaii, the pre-stain and staining took 1 day before it was ready to assemble. Once I had everything in order, the assembly process was quick as it only took me a half an hour to assemble. Getting all the parts, especially the wooden slats in order took longer than putting the frame together. Man, the plus bed frame has a lot of wooden slats! Once assembled, I did not clear poly coat it as I wanted to keep it natural looking. Instead, I finished it old school style with wood finishing polish. Almost forgot to mention, to make assembly easier, once I got the 4 outer frame pieces together, I put carpet slider discs under the 4 legs to make it easier to move around and get better angles to add the middle section, slats and tightening all of the screws. I read that there was a rise in the gap area of the frame while looking through the reviews. However, my frame is level in the gap area. I guess KD Frames fixed this as my frame is level in all areas, hence the advertisement of Updated Version. I also read that platform beds have a problem of some mattresses moving around while sleeping or getting out of bed. To try and remedy this, I bought a Tru Lite no slip pad to prevent this from happening. Since Amazon did not have the lighter version in full size, I bought the heavy version. The mattress I sleep on is a 9 inch coil spring mattress. Everything is rock solid as the frame is holding together with no squeaking or wobbling. The mattress does not move around . After about a week of sleeping on this new frame, the mattress has not moved an inch. The frame is on carpet so it's pretty locked into place. I'm really happy with this product and even happier that this is a product made in the USA with real wood that is sustainable and grows in the USA. I was pleasantly surprised at how everything was packaged nice and neat and how everything fit perfectly. There was no modifications or trying to cram in a screw or bolt, everything fit perfectly. This was the kind of project that gives a home improvement challenged guy like me some confidence in putting stuff together. It made me feel so good about myself, I went out and took on the challenge of changing all of my old lighting fixtures. Great bed frame. A very good buy in my opinion.

love it! 10/10 would recommend!
this is my first product review but this bed is good enough to warrant a review! I spent so much time agonizing over the right bed frame and this bed frame has been AMAZING so far. I would recommend it! Full disclosure, I've only owned it for a few weeks, so I cannot speak to how long it lasts or how easily it disassembles for moving apartments. But here are my thoughts:1. super easy and fast to assemble. I assembled it with another person but definitely could have done it alone. Because of how easy it was to assemble, I think it would be reasonable to disassemble as well.2. I love the way it looks. Very simple, classic. A lot of space underneath for storage. It's a bit higher off the ground than other beds, but it doesn't feel uncomfortably high up. My cat loves to go under and has more than enough room to scamper around under there, and I can easily crawl under/clean under as well.3. No squeaks! 100% silent.4. It feels super stable and supportive. I like that it has two rows of slats and doesn't require any legs in the middle of the bedframe (a lot of beds have legs supporting weight in the middle of the bed, which eliminates the possibility of sticking a trundle underneath.... this bed can accommodate a trundle easily, although the mattress for the trundle would have to be 7inches thick or less).5. I contacted KD Frames from their website and they were very responsive and helpful!Overall, I highly recommend this bed! I did a lot of research before buying beds, and I felt really good about this choice.
