Are the organs sourced from antibiotic and hormone free cows?

Our beef organ mix is sourced from British organic farms that are Soil Association certified.  Growth hormones are banned completely in the UK.

The US, Australia, New Zealand and Canada, allow farmers to give antibiotics to livestock to make them grow faster.  This is banned in the UK.  The Soil Association also specifically restricts the use of certain antibiotics.  As a result the use antibiotics on Soil Association certified beef farms is 3.5x lower than other UK farms on average.  Organic standards aim to promote good health and welfare so that disease is exceptional rather than routine.

Is this from grass finished cattle?? The website only says grass fed which is very different.

The ingredients in Hirsch organ meat supplements are sourced exclusively from British Soil Association organic farms and manufactured in organic certified facilities.  In the UK all beef cows are raised on pasture and grass fed, except in bad weather conditions when they need to be housed inside for their welfare and then are normally fed on hay, silage or straw.

Please see below some of the requirements for a Soil Association organic farm:

- Must have access to pasture (when weather and ground conditions permit) and are truly free range, and must have plenty of space (indoors and outdoors). Farmers must always provide enough light, space and comfort to allow farm animals to move and express their natural behaviours.

- Are fed a diet that is as natural as possible and free from genetically modified organisms (GMOs)

- Graze and forage naturally on organic pasture (grasses and other crops) where only natural fertilisers are used and pesticides are severely restricted. Instead of manufactured chemical fertilisers, clover is used in organic farming to fix nitrogen so that crops and grass grow. Organic grazing animals therefore have a diet containing high levels of clover, which is linked to nutritional differences in Omega 3.

Our beef organ mix consists of one third of liver, one third of kidney and one third of heart.  This means that there is 1000mg/1g of organic beef kidney in each 6 capsule serving (6 capsule serving: 3000mg/3g of organ mix).
