Q: Can you empty this filter

Typically these types of filters aren't ones that can be emptied. That said, I suppose you could take the tape off the middle of it, split it apart and empty it, and put it back together and re-tape it. But this is for very small particles such as copier toner and you would never get the actual filter material inside it completely clean.

Q: Is this a class 2 filter?

The vast majority of air filters have historically tested as UL Class 2. The criterion for this filter classification is that when tested, the clean air filter burns moderately when attacked by flame, or emits moderate amounts of smoke, or both. A UL Class 1 filter, when clean, did not contribute fuel when attacked by flame and emitted only negligible amounts of smoke. its a 0.3 micron paper filter I would say it could burn if sparks got into it.

Q: does this fit a 3m vacum toner model 497
