Must have if your horse will tolerate it
It's going to slip sometime before your horse's sores are cleared up. So, if he will panic with it around his legs, don't get it. Mine didn't panic, but he did rip it up during the night. So, have extras on hand. And monitor him to make sure he's willing to pee through it. They can, but some won't. It definitely needs a fly sheet with snug surcingles to help keep it in place. We used it in conjunction with Swat on the effected area. I know this doesn't sound like the start of a 5 star review, but I absolutely credit it with my horse's healing because the horse next door doesn't like his and his sores keep getting re-infected and mine healed in 3 weeks. Maybe less. I waited 3 weeks to have the vet come check. I can't describe what a relief that check-up was.

Did not stay on
It worked ok for a few days then failed. Went upside down and I had to adjust the fit with velcro. It tore and is now trash.

Equine fly sheet
Bought this fly sheet for a horse that had bad sores from flys. It worked very well to protect sensitive areas around sheath area. I did have to sew it a few times where it ripped from getting caught on stalls, otherwise it did the job.Beware though, it takes at least 2 people to put on. I bought extra Velcro straps to help keep it secure.I would recommend. If easier to put on I would give it 5 stars.

Saves my horse from the bugs!
I am more appreciative for this belly guard than I am for any other piece of tack or stable equipment. My horse suffers from sweet itch when near water, and last summer we experienced our first-ever summer sores. OMG they're awful. He got a couple on his sheath and this belly guard saved the day! Then last week he got some kind of bug bit that caused his sheath to swell like a balloon. Thanks to the belly guard, we avoided any summer sores or other bug-related issues to the cuts he gave himself from itching his sheath. Like others, I add straps to keep it in place. I use two leg straps from his blanket and criss-cross them over his back, hitching them to the plastic velcro keepers. He lives outdoors 24/7 and it stays on like a charm!

Great idea. Didnāt last. Try w fly sheet on top.
I really needed this to help my horse get through habronema. This was a great idea and was very successful for another horse in my barn. It took a couple minutes to put on and adjust. Initially, it seemed like this would work great for my horse (17 hand warmblood). Unfortunately, he ripped through it the first night. It can be sewn and fixed once I get motivated. Velcro closures need to be bigger/longer. Next year, on not-too-hot days, I will use this and put a kool coat or fly sheet on top to help secure it a little better.
