A cure for long lockdown locks!
Ok, because of this Covid thing I'm about 6 months overdue for a haircut, and my long hair was starting to drive me nuts. I guess I'm not in high school any more... I am not crazy about going to see my barber/stylist to get my hair cut, so I decided it was time for Plan B: Get a set of hair clippers.I did some research - some recommendations I read steered me to the Wahl Elite Pro kit. I found a seller who had stock of the kit on Amazon, and ordered one. Yes, I *suspect* that the price I paid is more than the MSRP, but even so, the price I paid was less than 2 haircuts + tips, so I figure that I'm still dollars ahead.Living by myself, I need to be able to cut my own hair. To add to the challenge, I've never cut my own hair before. So... I had to realistically manage my expectations. I decided to go for a pretty simplistic haircut and while I had no expectations of a perfect haircut my first time out of the gate, I wanted a) no divots (that is, no 'gouges' in either my hair or scalp), and b) no leftover long hairs.Wahl does have some introductory videos on cutting your own hair. I watched them and decided to go with the 'Easy Cut'.I read the materials that came with the clipper kit, and followed their recommendations of things to do before switching on the unit for the first time: 1) Oil the blades (a small bottle of oil is provided), and 2) check the blade alignment. The alignment was good. so I took up the bathroom rugs, cleaned off the counter, plugged the clippers in and let 'er rip!Honestly, things went well. For the 'Easy Cut' Wahl recommends starting with the #8 comb, which cuts the hair to a 1 inch length. The clippers buzzed through my 6 months of hair without seemingly even noticing, and pretty quickly things were looking pretty good. It did take a while to chase down and get rid of all the leftover long hairs - particularly around my cowlick at the back of my head.I did find it necessary to put on a shorter comb to shorten the hair around the ears - I felt that 1 inch of hair around the ears was a bit long - and to add a bit of taper on the sides of my head around the ears. All in all things went fine, with no divots and no long hairs left. I think my hair looks fine (I do realize there are hair care professionals that might have another opinion). I strongly suspect that my subsequent haircuts - because I won't need to remove as much hair - will go much quicker and will look even better. (In retrospect - they did!)Notes:1. The little fuzzy hairs at the back of the neck were still there when I was done. I was a little hesitant to try to clean up my neck with the clippers by myself as I was concerned about the chance of hair divots (working behind my head while looking in a mirror holding a large and powerful set of clippers with the guard comb off - gee, what are the chances of messing my haircut up?). I see that there are hair trimming shields available from Amazon to guard against that sort of thing, but I didn't have one on hand today. Maybe they don't even work. I'll need to look into this. (I did check into them - and bought one - they're great for this sort of thing!)2. My eyebrows are... a smidge long at this point. Again, closing my eyes and using a large set of electric clippers to clean up my eyebrows seemed to court disaster a bit. So...3. I ordered a small hand trimmer to address points 1) and 2). I soon purchased in a hair trimming shield, too.So, in conclusion: The Wahl Elite Pro kit worked fine for me. All items came in perfect shape, and all items worked as they should. If you're going to do your own hair, you might want to get a couple of other things besides the kit (handheld vacuum being one thing, a better cape than the one that comes with the kit being another. And yes, a hair cutting shield worked well for me as did the little clippers). However, those are 'optional' items that you may not need, want or would just prefer to avoid the additional $$$ outlay in order to save a few dollars.Update in January 2022: I successfully cut my own hair using the clippers for over a year. I'm proud to say that I never messed my hair up - while nobody would call the 'easy cut' stylish, it was always presentable and I even got several complements on it. I'm back to seeing a stylist, but I don't regret spending what I did on the Wahl 'Elite Pro' kit.Update in July 2022: Improved wording in a few spots but did not change any of my main points

Very very good
Ordered this Wahl Elite Clipper Pro in Canada, was delivered from US seller. Delivery was on schedule. this clipper is with electromagnetic (vibrating NOT rotating) motor. Initially I was disappointed by that, since all my previous clippers with electromagnetic drive were poor performers. This one is clearly an exception. Cuts effortlessly through thick hair, cuts are nice and even with very few missed hairs. Excellent for beard trimming too.

Great clippers!
I have very fine/thin hair. My other clippers would just push my hair when used with a #3 or 4 guard. I just got this and cut my hair myself in about 10 minutes. It worked great!I have a friend who was a barber and had a very nice clipper that cost him about $175. He said the difference is the motor and blades. While this doesn't have the detachable blades, it does have the most powerful motor they make. When this whole Covid thing happened I had him buzz my head with his. It's been a couple months now and it needed a trim. These definitely fit the bill. Would definitely recommend without hesitation.

No more going to the barber shop.
Great quality for the price! Professional clipper set seen at your pro barber shops and beauty salons. The only thing stopping you now from having a great haircut is the users skill.
