This brush surprised me with how beautifully it holds a point.

This brush is awesome! I love it. There is a learning curve with it so don't expect to be an expert with it right away. Like any other tool you have to learn how to use it and when. But more and more I find myself picking up this brish for lots of watercolor paintings. It can put down a lot of water and color is a sloppy moppish way or be shaped into a fine point for some good details. Learn the nuances and you will have a great brush.

Very high quality Chinese calligraphy brush. One can easily see that it was crafted with love and appreciation of the artistic nature of humans and life.

I have tried many medium-priced brushes for writing small Chinese scripts. I have finally found this goat hair brush to be the one to use. Once the tip foams a fine point, it holds it much better than other brushes and that is very important to me. Other animal hair brushes tend to split after several strokes.

Updating this review to reflect the fact that I have really practiced with this brush and I now find it to be a much better tool than I first realized: UPDATED REVIEW: I LOVE this brush for the 9.99 price. For this price it has a surprisingly good build quality/value. If you spend time managing the brush tip (rinse, re-form the point and hang it to dry) then you can maintain a very respectable point after tons and tons of use.. The bristles do indeed appear to be real goat. It really does hold a fair amount of water when fully loaded and the bristles are nice and soft and do not fall out. Very very good starter brush for the price.
