Great product
I bought this for my father’s tailgate on his truck. He had major back issues which led to multiple surgeries and could not lift his tailgate on his truck. We installed this in about 15 minutes, it made all the difference in the world between my father being able to lift his tailgate and not. Great product for someone who cannot lift a heavy tailgate! Would definitely recommend this

Tail gate strut
Kit not fitted right, cable gets stuck and skin torn off on first closure.also tail gate is pushed to the right when it’s closed.

It just doesn’t work :(
The media could not be loaded. I seriously wanted to like this product because I got something similar for my dads Silverado and he loved it, so I ordered this one expecting the same thing but boy was I wrong. The product works for its intention as it does create a slow-lowering tail gate, but the tailgate cable gets caught up and tangled with the strut provided in the kit and the door won’t close. I tried closing the tailgate a few times before I just said NOPE and removed it completely. Hopefully this issue can be fixed, but as of November 2022 I definitely would NOT recommend buying this.

Not as easy to install. Existing cable conflicted with damper arm.
Unit did not fit ad expected. Kept getting hung up when closing tail gate. It also shredded the tailgate safety cable. Had to get a new cable.Nice idea… poor implementation.

Fits on a 05 Tacoma
Easy to install if you have the right tools, only I don’t like is I have to physically move the cable so it doesn’t smash the hydraulic.

Cause tailgate to touch right taillight assembly
The diameter of the damper is TOO large and therefore causes the tailgate to shift to the right. I have zero gap on the right and 3/16" gap on the left. If I keep this item, I will likely have to remove the taillight and bend the sheet metal a bit if I can without damaging something else. I have minor issues with the cable as others have discussed as well.
