Hello! This is a great question! Carrageenan is actually an extract from sea moss. When extracted and used separately, it is very difficult for the body to process. However, when consumed as part of the entire vegetable (sea moss being a sea vegetable) it is what allows it to thicken into gel once blended. The example we like to use is apples and apple juice. When consumed as the entire fruit, including the skin, it provides wonderful benefits to the body and it doesn’t cause such a spike in blood sugar compared to consuming it as juice alone. The fiber in the entire apple aids in digestion and provides benefits. So does an apple contain apple juice, yes! But only when it is extracted. Does sea moss contain carrageenan, but only when extracted. We are well aware of the information and research behind carrageenan and the negative effects on the digestive system.
