driver side but it might go the other way if assembled backwards.

Q: Will the ramp fold into the bed of the trailor flat

It closes flat and open pretty straight for a chair or even luggage

Q: Do you have to have a hitch on car

Yes but we bought an add on hitch for 100.00 and installed it on our SUV.
