For those woth the white polo, how translucent is the material esp?

Its not at all. As of the last time I bought it (3-ish years ago), it was a pretty heavy fabric. However, they change the designs all the time. I would still expect it to be similar. I think Lands End makes a better product, but 5.11 is OK.

If I normally wear mediums should I get medium or small?

Fits Like a normal Mans shirt should/used to. If your MED get MED. 5.11 clothing is made for Function not to set the Fashion world on fire. Clothing shall not interfere with your work it shall be another added level of resource to get the job done. 5.11 won't disappoint.

They all discolor under the arms after several wearings. Is there a version of this shirt with more stain resistant fabric?
