Works (for me) even better than advertised! I've had my first one for over a year.
TLDR: I've been using this product for over a year, this is my second purchase. This trainer was exactly what I needed and it definitely helped (in my case) address the very specific use that it claims to address. For me it helps to keep my mouth shut at night to promote nose breathing, and helps mitigate the snoring that comes from a jaw that's too relaxed and falls back.I like this product because it's simple to use, comfortable, transportable, and requires no real customization. It's also nearly invisible. It quickly created a bit of suction, helped position my tongue towards the roof of my mouth and helps to keep my mouth closed at night. No more dry mouth in the morning!I've also seen the trainer have a positive effect on my mouth positioning even when not worn as they claim. If I slip back into old habits, I simply wear the trainer again for a while and it works to break the habit. The company is also very responsive, sends a lot of documentation to help you learn how to use the product, and follows up to check on your progress. You may be purchasing through Amazon, but you are supporting a small business.I've been pleasantly surprised at its effectiveness over the past year that I've been using it and this is actually my second purchase. My first one is still holding up fine and I believe it will last even longer, but I wanted to have another as a backup because I like the results. To learn more about the benefits of "proper breathing" I recommend the book "Breath: The New Science of a Lost Art" by James Nestor. There's an entire section on the benefits of training to breathe through the nose and this product helps address the issue at night, when we can't consciously work on it.Especially for the very reasonable price I can highly recommend the product to anyone who's struggling with snoring or open mouth breathing at night. It's worth the small investment to see if it works for you because if it does, it will - quite literally - change your life.

Unleash the power
This item needs to be better marketed because it actually has four benefits and it is heavily undersold. 1. The suction created with your tongue to the roof your mouth will actually strengthen your tongue and stretch the fascia under your tongue over time thereby improving your tongue mobility and tongue position. The cost of myofunctional therapy to accomplish this can be anywhere from $900 to $4,000. This thing can accomplish it for 30 bucks. More so malfunctional therapy requires it here and for 4 to 12 months depending on the program. Despite it being effective, most research shows that only about 5 to 10% of people actually complete a full malfunctional program. So in reality it's not an effective intervention. This on the other hand is passive so after you get used to it for a couple weeks, wearing it for 12 months is easy. 2. Instead of using mouth tape which basically cost 5 to 30 bucks a month and this is a much cheaper option since you'll need mouth tape forever basically. Also this actually trains your lips to seal where his mouth tape just holds them together. One is behavioral entrainment which is passive making adherence very high, the other is not natural and forced. Not to mention that anyone with facial hair has a nightmare using mouth tape. 3. It correctly trains nose breathing. Mouth tape does not. A lot of people think that closing your lips is the only part that needs to be sealed for your nose to breathe effectively into the pharynx. That is not the case the front gate IE the lips and the back gate ie back of the oral cavity both need to be closed. This can only be accomplished if the tongue is in a high resting position suction against the roof of the mouth so that way the back of the oral cavity is blocked off by the tongue. 4. This thing will replace a mandibular advancement device. A good one will cost $2,500. A cheap one which is custom-made will cost $800. Crappy one sold online may cost like a hundred or $200. The downside to all of them is that they possibly pull your job forward stressing your TMJ. This means you don't actually learn to hold your jaw in a forward position which if your tongue were in the correct position with the suction to the roof of your mouth it would automatically pull the jaw forward. This device does accomplish that. All for $30. Not to mention that the mandibular advancement devices are usually made of some type of plastic which grinds down over time. This means two things you're going to have to outlay another couple hundred or thousands of dollars in about 5 years maybe. Also as that plastic wears down you're going to be swallowing it all night long. Ever used silicone cooking instruments? It's a much better material as it can withstand extremely high heat and force for years with minimal disfiguration. Same thing applies as a mouth appliance. Also because it is not positioned between the teeth does not get grinded down over time. That means the device has a much longer lifetime and is much safer to use in your body. The biggest competitors for this device are they uplocker vacuum activator for 65 bucks, and the OPA designed by innovative oral solutions for $165. The former has an advantage of a visual cue to know when the seal is correctly made. The latter does a better job specially in the beginning when using it, at reminding you to keep your tongue to your roof of your mouth. By the way, if you used to send an individual under the age of 12, the correct tongue position will straighten out the teeth and you'll save money on dentistry and orthodontics.

Excellent device, once modified
This device was unusable until I modified it. The whole goal for me is to learn to sleep with my mouth closed, and this device has little 'wings' that hold your mouth open almost 1/4 inch!So I cut the wings off (which was risky because it meant I could not have returned it if it still didn't work.) But with the wings off, it is great! It's very comfortable, and completely effective in keeping me from mouth breathing. And the little stick in front makes it very easy to adjust and to take out if you want to talk to someone for a moment. My other concern is the info sheet that comes with the device. Not reassuring at all. No basic instructions, and NO INFO ABOUT MATERIALS. The listing on Amazon says it's medical grade silicon, but the paper with the device does not confirm that, which makes me nervous about using it. It feels like silicon, so for now I will hope that it is. But there should be some kind of materials information included with the product!Bottom line, if you're willing to cut into a brand new $35 device to modify it, and if you're willing to trust the listing about the silicon, this is a great device for stopping mouth breathing. If not, don't buy it.
