Whynter Service Was Great!
We used this daily to keep drinks cold and for food storage during emergencies. It worked great for several years. Then the compressor went out and it became a planter. Whytner was very nice. I had no problems contacting them and they responded promptly. Even though it was out of warrenty, they offered me 40% off on any product they sell. I thought that was more than fair and I appreciated it. I am not sorry I purchased this unit. The size is great for camping or other uses. It is also a great size for road trips.

Turns my car into an RV
My wife has food allergies so we travel with our own food. This freezer extends the range we can travel by keeping a wide selection of foods frozen as we move from motel to hotel to resort to relatives homes and back home. Now that there are microwaves everywhere, we can enjoy frozen, home cooked meals anywhere. We prefer to travel in normal vehicles, not RV's, and stay in hotels, so adding this equipment to our traveling gear has given us RV style food storage capability. We just completed a 16 day, 3200 mile trip on which the Whynter 45 gal freezer performed flawlessly. Set to -4F, our food was kept fresh frozen and we even added some food to it as we traveled that froze in a few hours. The night before our departure I packed the freezer in the car in a hot, 96F, garage, plugged in the AC and let it set overnight. When we departed the next day, the temp was still at -4. Ran the DC from the car 12V outlet on our drive and it worked great. I bought a luggage dolly that holds 150 lbs to help transport it to and from the car as it is heavy when loaded. However, the heavy duty construction and handles make it luggable, as on this trip I could carry it up the stairs to the second floor in two of the hotels and then use the dolly on the flat surfaces. (Next trip I will get rooms on the first floor or book hotels with elevators if possible.)Having given it a good test on our trip, we are very pleased with this freezer. It is quiet and sturdy with nice features including good handles, lid latch, inside light and two baskets.

Limited product support without resolving anything.
This is a decent refrigerator (until it quits working). This is an expensive product that failed after about 10 trips total. It was for my rv and not a full timer either. The compressor is mounted on springs, but far too much movement in it, which in my case it failed after several trips. Contacted Whynter just to get the run around and the 50 questions and then let me ask the same thing in a different way. They did nothing and told me it was the compressor and could not be fixed. Duh! I knew that before all the run around. Wouldn’t recommend and you can get Iceco or something else for this kind of money.

Excellent product and worth the price point!
This is a great product! For years we have used. Ice coolers and had to deal with buying ice and putting food in containers so items be would not get wet. Love that that is no longer an issue. Took it with us for a 3 night 4 day camping trip. Used AC to take it to the temp I liked to use it as a refrigerator the day before we left for camping. The road trip to our camp site was a 3 hour drive so we used the DC feature using the truck 12v. Very impressed!! Functioned as it should!! Can’t wait for our 14day road trip to use it again. Definitely would recommend this product. The price point was right where it should be.

Good for trucker
Good day shoppers, I an on my second unit as of now. the first one i bought back in 2019 quit on me after about six months. i figured i would email and call to ttry to get a replacement but had no luck. I am a over the road trucker trying to lose weight and save money while out. this freezer seem to be very sturdy. it did work very good for the short time. it kept my meats, icecream, and what ever else frozen solid. So I decided the first failor was probably the luck of the draw, but this time I know this product is crap!!!!!! For the price it doesnt last long and your food will spoil. and u will have to deal with the fact that you lost $500+ dollars on this peice of equipment. theworse part is no one ever contacted me about both freezers. which I think that they are very aware of whats going on. the first one i threw away but the second one is now like an expensive paperweight on my semi truck. If you shopppers have any better options plz let me know. thx

Works as well as my home refer/freezer
I used this for traveling to Mexico from California. I thought perhaps I was going overboard spending the money for something 'non essential'. It was essential for my travel. Six days of driving and hotels. This was fantastic. I ran it off the 12volt cig socket. Stop have a fresh sandwich, cold redbull, protein drink, BEER. All the hotels had luggage carts, so bring it into the room run it on AC. This is for me an essential tool for travel. My wife was VERY sceptical about the purchase; not anymore, she loves it. I would think that in a few years it will easily pay for itself in saving the price of lunches and the occasional dinner. It has already paid for itself in convenience.

Nice unit and initial quality
Initial quality impression was high! The unit on AC power read 87 degrees when first opened. I set it to -4 degrees. Within an hour it was at 28 degrees. Very impressive. 3 hours later I was at 15 degrees and within 7 hours at -4 degrees. Where it has stayed for the past 24 hours. The unit sounds like a typical white noise machine when running. It does have some weight to it so you will want to carry it with another person, especially when loaded. I bought it for a boat trip to the Bahamas next week. I can probably update after the trip and let you know how it performs in the bow of my boat and over there for a week in real world conditions. So far I would recommend the product, although a little pricey.

As Advertised
This unit hits the mark. It is either a refrigerator or freezer depending on how you set the thermoset. I use it in a Transvan/camper. While the generator is on the unit is powered by 120v, when ever I turn off the generator it automatically switches to DC, and visa versa. If the engine is turned off and I forget the unit (if on DC) turns itself off at whatever voltage I choose. Gets to temperature fast, like in 15 mins to 25 degrees. A little on the heavy side, but nothing anyone couldn't manage.
