Love, love this water kettle! Water boils within minutes- like 2 minutes and is HOT! Great to use with tea, coffee, cleaning. Very easy to use- literally flip a switch and boom! Water heats up. Light will turn off when boiling.

We bought our first Capresso kettle, same model as this, about 2017 at a local kitchen supply store. It worked (and still works) brilliantly. The chrome plating began lifting on the lid, so we decided to order a replacement, and went with Capresso again, assuming that the quality was still there with the relatively high price. Ordered Oct 23, 2023. In January '24, it began shutting off before it got to a boil, and being in warranty and beyond Amazon's return window, we checked into it. The warranty center told us that they would ship us a new one after they received the old one. Unlike many reputable companies, they did not provide return shipping, so we bit the bullet and footed the bill of $21.00. Ten days later, we received our warranty replacement kettle and marked it up to a bit of bad luck. Unfortunately, the replacement kettle died completely within 2 months, and I was too disgusted to call them again, but I still may. But beware - as in many things of Chinese manufacture, the production or management of that factory has changed to cheaper electrical hardware or gotten a bad batch, or got counterfeit parts, or suffered the other underhanded things that go on in export commerce there. Regardless, this kettle is a $21 throwaway posing as a $55 near-premium appliance. Very disappointed in Capresso for not taking responsibility for this run of defective kettles.

This kettle is really the best- the water boild fast and you can see the time it is to take the water to brew good tea

Love this kettle. However, the thumb button to turn it on stopped working after three months. I called the company, talked with a very nice gentleman. We returned our kettle to the company on Monday. They received it Tuesday. We received a new one on Friday. Very pleased with the customer service at Jura.

My original 2006 review is below. There are helpful comments, including my own comment in 2010 (hinge broke, bought another one) and 2012 (hinge broke after 18 mo, bought another one). My current kettle's hinge just broke - so that one lasted almost exactly 3 years. This one had minor buckling of the silver foil on the lid (near the spout) and on the handle (I went to check, I never noticed it). I keep the glass and silver heating element clean and shiny with vinegar (as in the product manual). By the way, I've never had a problem with unpleasant taste or smell, and I've never had the heating element fail. I just looked around for another brand of glass water kettle that might bring me as much joy as this one does, and I can't find one. I think the hinge lasts longer if you know it is delicate, and pay attention not to open it too far. The foil on the lid lasts longer if you are careful to open the lid enough so that the steam isn't repeatedly flowing over it. In the end, this kettle is so beautiful on my counter that I will accept its limited lifespan (like a delicate wine glass).I'm surprised, though, that Capresso doesn't care about the repeated one-star reviews, many of which complain about the cheap plastic hinge and the peeling shiny lid. I give whomever designed this an A+++ (for beauty) and an F for durability.2006 review: My biggest rave is the Amazon.com customer service. I fell in love with the look of this kettle and found the best price on Amazon.com (with free shipping!) When it arrived, it only worked if the kettle was oriented one way on the base -- when it boiled, the water dribbled on the cord. Called Capresso Cust Svc -- 1st person said, it's supposed to do that. After another week, it got worse. Capresso would replace it if I paid it's shipping back to them. Called Amazon.com, got another in the mail days later, post-paid shipping back the first one to them. Wow! This kettle works just fine. Very rapid boiling of water, no complaints about anything. To keep the glass and that silver dome shiny, you do need to do the vinegar thing every now and again. Couldn't be happier.

We just ordered our 5th one of these... and that is a good thing. Yes, the past 4 all wore out and stopped working. But we've been buying them for nearly 15 years! They have been fantastic hot water pots in a family that refills them 4-6 times every day. They show the buildup from hard water (though easy to clean!). If you fill it too full, it will spill. But both of those are true for every other pot too. This one is well worth the purchase if you want something that looks nice.

We have had this same model for several years finally the lid broke at the hinge but it Had worked flawlessly. This new one has changed in some way and the condensation builds up on the inside and never seems to evaporate which makes it difficult see the water level. Inspecting the lids on the two models I noticed two notches on the underside of old one which are missing on the newer one. Now its just too inconvenient to use. I shouldn't need to always open the lid after each use, which still doesn't help much!
