Depends on the distance. For any normal vent location, it'll be fine. If you can put your hand there without getting burned, then you can put these there. The main issue will be getting them to stick. You'll have to clean the surface really well. Or, use some sort of clip to hold it in place. Which then means finding a way for the clip to stay in place. You get what I mean.
