Q: I assume the 40mm diameter is the dimension of the steel only. What is the dimension of the steel and the covering?

With covering, the shaft is 8mm thick or ~ 5/16" not including the small rubber shaft seals on bottom.

Q: If i purchase 8 locks will they all be keyed the same?

Q: Can I get this in a 3 pack keyed alike?

Don't know but this lock is not weatherproof, its has rusted something terrible being outside on my shed in just a short amount of time
