Q: can this be added to garden soil as crystals and tilled in to enhance n and p?

Yes. Keep in mind that this is ammoniacal nitrogen. Under normal conditions, soil bacteria will convert it to nitrate, however, under poor conditions that limit the action of the bacteria, like cool temperature or poor aeration, you can end up with ammonium toxicity in the plants. Also, ammoniacal nitrogen will acidify the soil... that's fine if it's neutral to high to begin with, but if the soil has a low pH may need to correct it. Calcium nitrate or potassium nitrate are both nitrate nitrogen and will raise pH rather than lower it, so sometimes those are more appropriate. Most general purpose fertilizers contain a blend of Urea, Ammoniacal, and Nitrate nitrogen. Altering the ratios determines the effect on pH and also will tailor it to the needs of specific plants. These pure chemicals are often used by people who custom blend various recipes.

Q: Will this work good for a fire extinguisher?

To be honest I don't know if any of our customers have used it for that purpose but this is pure Monoammonium Phosphate without any additives so it should work.

It is meant to be used as a fertilizer not a detergent

Q: Anyone try using this for DIY dry fire extinguisher ball?

I haven't tried it as a fire extinguisher, but I suspect that particle size may be an issue. As fertilizer, particle size is pretty forgiving; The particle size is coarser (normal white sugar size) than what is found in a dry chemical fire extinguisher (more like powdered sugar).
