You can find this preservative in any bottle of Ginger ale, other drinks and many foods. Most of natural face creams have water/juice as a part of their formula. Water is a haven for yeast, mold, dangerous bacteria and fungi. If the product is not properly preserved, they will colonize and invade the body through the skin. This can lead to serious health problems. Properly preserving your product, therefore, is not optional unless your product does not contain water in its formula, or is to be kept refrigerated and used within 2 weeks. Sodium Benzoate is a food grade preservative that you drink in every can of soda. Most of other skincare companies use cheaper and less safe preservative Phenoxyethanol. All our leave-on skincare products are free of Phenoxyethanol. Phenoxyethanol is not a food grade ingredient.
