Q: how does this compare with traditional calamine

Doesn’t make a mess. The original version seems to cover better, but I’m old schooled. I also found that hand sanitizer on a mosquito bite takes the itch away too.

Q: Does it eliminate itching?

Yes, it is very good. If you have itching due to bug biting or mosquito biting on your body, I would like to recommend this lotion. However, I don't want to recommend itching due to dry skin or allergy.

SF Alcohol, 38-B,complex-citric acid , diazidinyl urea, fragrance, glycerin, hypomellrose, methylparaben, polysorbate 40, propylene glycol, propyparaben, purified water sodium citrate

Q: Does this have the same ingredients as the pink one?

Yes. It's very effective, just like the pink, but clear.
