Vantec SSD/HDD Aluminum Caddy for 12.7mm ODD Laptop Drive Bay (MRK-HC127A-BK)

It works perfect. I love the tool-less mounting of the drive and the rubber mounts for the drive. It turned the relatively useless dvd drive into a HDD bay. Its fantastic build quality and amazingly useful.Installing is as easy as removing the mounting brace from the optical drive and securing it to the Aluminum Caddy with the provided screwdriver.Thank you again.

Much better than the caddy I ordered off ebay for $7. Expensive but worth it. I was skeptical of the silicone plugs however they work great and hold the drive snug. It has an LED that is green and flashes red when there is drive activity. Holds the original drive bezel well and doesn't fall out. Great choice but a premium price point. 5/5 stars easily.

This is a great way to add storage to a laptop or low profile desktop. I installed my SSD into the Vantec and then into the laptop, formatted the drive...done! Crazy easy to do. I would give five stars if there was a way to secure drive with screws. It has a rubber spacer but there is still opportunity for up and down movement. Not a huge deal and some thermal tape took care of it. Also, a small fan in the extra dead space would be worth paying a little extra for. These are just some ideas and I have no issue with the product as is especially for the price. Great value. Thanks!

I have tried a lot of caddies online in the past 5 years. Vantec is my latest trials and they were so good and reliable. It was for a Laptop SSD upgrade and replacing the DVD drive with the old HDD. Though I do not recommend that you use the old HDD and retire it, most people prefer to still use them. However, I do not recommend the use of an HDD that passes the two years mark.

I just recently decided to add extra drive for non functioning CD player on my Asus laptop. The trickiest part was removing my cover from CD player so I could attach to this frame. The cover that came with the Vantec caddy showed me where the tabs were located to release the old frame. Ssd installation was simple only had to mount one extra bracket. Was done in less than 30 minutes.

Drive fits fine in mini pc build but don't like how HD fits in caddy. NO 6pin sata power included in box. Terrible! Had to wait and buy this cable on Amazon.

Exactly what I needed. Nice to be able to use The disk drives from old laptops. The one I had still had LightScribe which is hard to find. It was easy to install the drive into the new case. Worked well. plugged in played as advertised.
