This hammer is 28 ounces. Primarily a frame and demolition hammer. Also good for nailing decking and other heavy duty hammering. This hammer will built arm muscles. Not for the average homeowner. A real heavy weight

Q: Do these come in 32oz - 36oz ?

I’m not aware of 36 oz. but they do offer 30 oz. and 32 oz. one question, why would you need a 36 oz. framing hammer? I’m been rough framing many homes and even the 32 oz. swinging that all day would be torturous in my experience. Why I opted for 28 oz.

Q: I just have to wonder why the 25 oz version is twice as expensive. Is there a difference in materials or construction techniques?

The extra $20+ is for the blue paint on the metal. I've had the 28 OZ for 7 years and it's my go to hammer for framing. One thing I noticed is the quality of the steel is superb. If you strike something metal it actually rings. I've got a dozen other hammers that don't do that.
