Worth the Price if You Bake Extensively or Professionally
Great stuff. I doubt you would be able to achieve the various shades of gray without this kit. At the time I purchased it, I thought I would only need one of the colors. But they were so specific, with such distinctive shades, that I wound up using more of them than I expected to. They are gel based, water soluble, and will curdle if you use any kind of alcohol based extract to thin it. I learned this by trial and error. (I use the lemon extract to color cake decorations when I have powdered food color.) Anyhow, I doubt you would be able to take a straight out black food color, and thin it to make it any one of these shades of gray. I used the slate gray pigment to create the 'canvas' look of a Louis Vuitton handbag in the attached picture.

Worked great
Amazing food coloring! I love that you can dispense it from the lid directly into the food. It’s not as thick as I expected, but def not liquid either. Yes, it looks green-ish in the bottle, just like yellow food coloring looks orange in the bottle. It’s grey once mixed. I did need to use a lot more than I expected though (which in my experience is true with most food coloring.)

Bee-U-tee-full!
Look at these cake sails and marbled buttercream. The green was from a store-bought set of gel color tubes, but the greys were all from this set. Love the taupe, especially, and how it made a forest green with the tubes. Just had one of the 12-bottle student kits delivered today & looking forward to playing.

This food coloring is great. I always used Wilton
This food coloring is great. I always used Wilton, but after using this brand I will not go back. The coloring looks green when you see it in the bottle, but after it is mixed in, it is not green at all. I attached pictures of the bottle and how the icing turned out on my cookies.

Interesting and wonderful colors!
Did I need a box of gray food colors? Probably not but I do love them. I discovered that just adding black color to white icing doesn't always give you the results you were hoping for--that black has all sorts of other colors in it. When I use these, I get exactly the tone of gray I was wanting. Well worth the expense if you do a lot of decorating.

Great variety of greys
These were great. Every possible shade of grey you could think of. I was making a rock climbing cake and used it for the mountain.

Loved these colors
Loved these colors. The liquid form enables a whole lot more control over different batches. And I loved the spread of colors that allowed me to pick the perfect gray to match wedding colors.

loved the gun metal coloring
The item arrived promptly. The gun metal gray was perfect for my pewter colored wedding mints. Some of the other grays in the pack had a slight greenish tint to them but it may have been because I did not mix them in enough of the mint mixture.
