Elation Lighting Fog Machine (Magma Prime)

If you need a HAZER that can fill a room or theater for under $500, look no further. If you understand that the whole point of haze is that you don’t see large bursts of fog that dissipate quickly in your lights, this is a true hazer that fills up a large space with an atmospheric effect that turns your stage lights from flashing colors on trusses into long ranging 3D columns of light even off your LED wash pars and it keeps a constant level of density throughout even the most demanding shows. It’s subtle and almost unnoticeable to the audience or even the band as the haze moves into the space but it fills it quickly and evenly. This is the best HAZE machine for anything even close to this price. I haven’t used it above 65% in a 1000+ cap venue indoors as shown in my attached pics. I also travel with it to different rooms, 250-750 cap and set it at 20-35% depending on the air movement. It works in minutes and has every possible type of control you could ever need. The DMX is great and was a must have for me, (dmx profile wasn’t in the library, created a custom profile in MA for 3ch mode: Fan, Blower, Haze & 5ch with interval & duration). Haven’t used it with a remote control (optional accessory) but the presets are useful and work great, setting the timer works really well (haze depth, fan/blower, interval & duration) and manual mode (fan & haze) which is great for just letting it run through the show and keeping a constant amount of haze in the room. I have used so many different hazers and this is a compressor based unit so it is not silent (not a heater based unit with a pump), it is pretty quiet though. The manufacturer recommended fluid is hard to find, but it is IMPORTANT to use the exact fluid because that’s what will get the best results and longest lifespan on the unit. It doesn’t guzzle through it so that’s another reason to use the Atmosity Atmospheric Effects Fluids, AEF-4L extreme filtered water based high density fog juice. I found it at B&H Photo online for like $50 you get 2 of 4 liter bottles and free shipping. Still haven’t opened the 2nd bottle yet and I use it 4-5 nights a week. GET THIS ONE!!!!

Product wouldn’t work out of the box. Filled it with Beam Splitter fluid. Turned it on. And immediately got an error code for the heater. It never emitted a puff of fog.

First, for those looking for a Thick Fogger, this is a Hazer. It is designed to create a thin to medium atmosphere in the air that will pick up light rays, lasers, and add depth on a film or theater set. It has really nice presets, uses a water based haze solution (Wish Amazon sold the Manufacturer brand) and isn't terribly loud (there is a fan to diffuse the haze). Overall, a very nice machine in 2022.

Toured with 2 of these through some 6,000 capacity rooms in North America and they worked like a champ. I decided to buy a few of my own and have no regrets.

Have bought several of these. Easily programmable through DMX with really great manual options for users.

The output is amazing and the fan is powerful enough to really push the haze out away from the machine. The touch screen is a nice feature, too!

I bought it along with the Chavaut Hazer Fluid that was offered with this Hazer as a package deal. The Fluid is the wrong one. I contacted the manufacturer, and they said that this type of fluid should never be used with the machine. The Hazer did not emit any fog.

This very expensive machine is a disappointment. I have two other fog machines. One that has lasted 20-ish years with basic maintenance. The pump on this unit stopped working after sitting for a year, after one Halloween night of use. This is not what anyone should expect from a 400 dollar machine. When it worked it was great but that didn't last long. Overall, outclassed by cheap Walmart machines.
