The evolution of Michael Jackson into a serious performer
While MJ's earlier albums were a mix of funk, disco, rock and pop sounds, Dangerous was a strong departure from his now well-recognized sonic signature. The reason was that besides his evolving into a more confident and assertive creative person, this album marked the end of his long association with the iconic producer Quincy Jones, with whom he had crafted his earlier albums, including the best-selling album of all time - Thriller. The result was a different soundscape comprising of beatboxing and finger-snapping, combined with industrial sounds, car horns, and other unexpected musicality of chains sliding, glass shattering, rap/scatting, etc., which was a consequence of Jackson roping in Bill Bottrell, Teddy Riley, and Bruce Swedien as the co-producers.The trend of featuring renowned guitarists on rock tracks continued with this album too. While earlier, Quincy Jones had roped in the legendary Eddie Van Halen for the iconic guitar solo in 'Beat It', and Steve Stevens in 'Dirty Diana', Jackson brought on board an equally acclaimed guitarist Slash from Guns n Roses for some lush guitar work on 'Give In To Me'. Princess Stephanie of Monaco also sang on the 'In The Closet' track, which was initially to be performed as a duet with Madonna. With a mix of more edgy and urban sounds, combined with the trademark Jackson ballads, Dangerous sold more than 32 million copies, making it one of the best-selling albums of all time. Jackson picked up a ton of awards for his songs and/or music videos from this album. Coupled with the now-legendary performance during the half-time of Super Bowl, Dangerous is firmly entrenched in the history of contemporary music, period. The first thing you notice from the album, when you pick it up, is the cover art. Jackson's eyes peek at you from behind a gold mask, with a collage of Bubbles(Jackson's pet chimpanzee), PT Barnum, a naked child, a dog and a cat in royal clothing etc. Mark Ryden, American pop surrealist artist was the brains behind this now easily recognisable album cover.Regarding the record, the album is pressed on 180gm black vinyl for the ultimate sonic quality. With the evolution of Jackson into a more conscientious and serious performer, this album is iconic for many reasons. If you are a MJ fan, this album should certainly be in your collection.

Fantastic Vinyl...well worth the price
Wonderful vinyl! Hearing some of the tracks after almost 25 years now. Bernie Grundman has done an amazing job here - all the songs sound fresh and very very good - second reissued vinyl that’s sounding like new after Hendrix’s Rainbow Bridge that I heard. The price has surely gone northwards in the recent times and not readily available either but worth the price paid. Some would say this Jacko’s best ...well certainly up there with his best. Sadly it represented his creative peak and it went downhill from here.

Classic album
CD sounds good too. A bit low in volume but a good audio setup makes things fine as wine. This is the original '91 CD, not a remaster.
