Life Extension is a company with a reputation for high quality supplements. I really like each of the products from Life Extension that I have tried so far. Glutamine powder is pure glutamine, an amino acid, and there are no silica or cellulose additives like you always find in tablets and capsules. So, this product is perfect, except for the price. If you are taking amino acids, I hope you have done your research on the benefits. Glutamine has worked quickly and so noticeably in my muscle recovery, and I have dramatically less pain and stiffness. Yes, I work out, but I am in my late 60's, and I have had a lot of pain in my piriformis and IT band, especially on the left leg. There are many benefits of Glutamine, but I think the most important to me are: 1) fast muscle recovery, 2) improves immune system, and 3) regulates the small intestines (I find that it stops the occassional diarrhea from taking magnesium supplements). I love it! Some amino acids dissolve in water, but not Glutamine. I gave up on using the blender, because it didn't help. Maybe if you drink it in a smoothie, the other ingredients will hold the Glutamine in suspension. I put this in plain water, stir, take a sip, stir again, sip again. It's really pretty tasteless. My only problem is that the Life Extension container of Glutamine was $15.20 for 100 grams ($.15 per g). I can get Glutamine from GNC for $24.99 for 454 grams ($.05 per g). That means Life Extension's Glutamine is triple the price, and they perform the same. The bodybuilders online seem to say that you should take Glutamine with food, before and after working out. I take it after eating, but it works whenever time of day that I take it. Glutamine has been used extensively, and there apparently are no side effects even with large amounts. Some may find it constipating, but I don't have that problem. I highly recommend Glutamine, and highly recommend Life Extension, I just wish their Glutamine was less expensive.
