Mandatory for emergency preparedness
I remember this this is the brand given out in the military. Bright and long lasting. Never had a dull one yet. They do have expiration dates but I have gone a few years past it with minimally reduced operation. Still works as advertised. But I’m sure the duration starts slacking off. Easy to turn on and nice sized hole on top to run cordage through. These are a must have for storm prep. Mind you it’s not going to light up a room but good enough to read by if held close and outstanding for marking and visibility if you choose to have each member of the family carry one. (Great use for the hole on top). A must have for any preparedness kit.

Better than candles in the house.
These were added to our emergency kits at home and in the vehicles. They provide an adequate amount of light to navigate around the house or around the immediate area of one’s car (inside and out). They last for at least 12 hours and are much safer than candles as there is no open flame. In my opinion these are a solid addition to anyone’s power outage/blackout kit.

Red Chem Lights Aren’t Meant to be Bright
I see way too many negative comments thinking these are glow sticks for the 4th of July type events especially reviews about the red sticks. THESE ARE MEANT TO EMIT VERY LITTLE LIGHT FOR A REASON, red light is easier on the eyes which when walking around at night it means you keep more of your ability to see at night. These aren’t meant to be a significant source of light, the best uses for these are reading at night or seeing around inside your tent. Again these are not meant to be bright on purpose, please understand when buying that these are mainly meant for survival/camping and emergencies not for children to play with.

Love them
This product says it last 12 hours but mine have worked over 24 hours many times! They’re a little less bright than I expected but I never tried them in pitch black. They’re very durable and I never had a problem with them accidentally breaking.

Long lasting
Not very bright but then again none of the red lights are . Bright enough to read a map or plot an azimuth at night in pitch black condition without ruining your eyes natural night vision.Have not tested them with infrared yet hopefully soon. These stay illuminated for more than 12 hours .Fyi: to make them last longer warm them up.Hot water ,or roll them between your hands to extend thier life.

Insane Shelf-Life
I ordered some of these several years ago, put them in a bug-out bag, forgot about them, and found them a few days ago. According to their expiration or "use by" date, they were two years past their prime. But rather than throw them away, I cracked one to use in a pumpkin on Halloween last night. Not only did it light up bright, but it was still glowing fairly strong 24 hours later. Order placed for a new set. These Cyalume sticks are the real deal!

Really good price.
Bought these [in different colors]for emergency use. Almost ever time we have a good thunder storm, the power goes off for several hours. I don't like the smell of candles and oil lamps. Battery prices being what they are, I prefer not to use flashlights. Tested 1 of these and it lasted over 13 hours. Great.

Not bright enough as a camper night light.
Works great to lay on ground or floor when marking hazards you wish to avoid stepping on, but I originally bought these as a night night for use in our cab-over truck camper at night when having to get up to use the toilet. They are not nearly bright enough for this use. They are visible from a good distance away however for marking hazards and last two nights.
