Q: When are new boots the most uncomfortable?A: Right out of the box.Except for these boots.From the moment I put them on, they were as comfortable as the old boots I'd been wearing for years. No pressure points, no stiffness. Just pure comfort.Living in the Pacific Northwest, I needed a boot that was both waterproof and insulated, as these are. I ordered size 10.5, same as usual shoe size, and they fit perfectly. They are also versatile. In deep snow or mud, I can tuck my jeans into the boot; if it's cold but dry, my jeans can easily fit over the upper.I'm looking forward to many years of use from them.(As a bonus, they look great!)

This is my first review even though I've purchased several variations of these boots. Just going by looks - the way the pieces were designed and stitched together, the overall shape of the boot - it really is a beautiful pair of boots. Even the design of the deep treads of the Vibram - pronounced vee-bram- soles - feels like someone really put in a lot of thought and effort to design this footwear.The side zipper holds well and it zips and unzips very easily, thus, allowing you to get in and out of these boots as quickly as you like. The insoles are very comfortable, good for walking long periods of time. The fit of the feet, too, is very comfortable and the ankles feel secure and safe from sprains. The material is flexible and feels good. Also, the boots are true to size.The boots don't look clunky at all, they really are sleek. They go well with jeans and, of course, tactical pants. They're good for walking, route marches, hiking on dirt or even muddy paths, and in fight or flight situations.

I've been wearing "logger style" boots all my life, these "waterproof" liners everyone is putting in, claim they 'breathe', well, in my opinion they're just as good at keeping sweat in, as puddle water out! Which means every four hours I'm changing my soaking wet socks and I work on DRY land ! Second, if you're like me, the minute your socks get damp/wet, cold feet are just minutes away!! And regardless of what the manufacture claims is the x number of grams of Thinsulate the toe-box is always woefully inadequate, they stuff the shaft of the boot thick and leave the toe-box the same. I've never had cold ankles but my wet sock clad toes get and have gotten mighty cold! I was determined not to suffer these woes again THIS winter! Enter these Tactical Research boots; these are HANDS DOWN the best pair of boots I've ever owned!! The ONLY pair I have EVER had where the water proof liner does actually allow my sweat to escape, and keep puddle water out! In my world this is HUGE! but wait there's more ;) ! They claim 400g of insulation, well all I can say is my feet have NEVER gotten cold in them and just the other day I wore them ALL DAY (one sock change) and the temp never got above 17!! The only pair of boots I have that are warmer are pac boots with 9mm wool felt liners and 9mm wool felt insoles. And if all this isn't just amazingly wonderful the laces and lacing system make lacing them comfortable a snap right out of the box, no break in period waiting for everything to get situated the way you like. Still not sold? .....they're about as heavy as a pair of slippers! SO easy to get around in all day. The only negative I have to share is I wear an "EE" so I ordered the "W" well, they were medium width at best, but a weeks worth of "boot stretchers" every night....now they ARE EE :) If you, like me, are tired of heavy booted, cold wet feet everyday, try a pair of these, you won't regret it!

Very well made . This is the first time that I bought a cheaper non big name boot. Was s pleasant surprise on how well made , rugged , and nicely priced .

After years of trying differnt mil, duty and tactical boots, I can say without any reservation, that these are by far the best I've used.My primary purpose was for walking in cold, wet and snowy conditions, and on uneven ground, including asphalt and concrete transitions. This includes loose gravel, occasional muddy slopes and even wet slippery wooden walkways. I even tested these boots on fallen trees that were covered in ice and snow.The ice covered logs were a challenge and the grip was okay, but not great. However, I am totally blown away how well these boots work in snow. The design somehow makes it easier to move over and thru snow without having to fight it or get bogged down in it. The tread design also assists in evacuating snow and mud without too much assistance.Warmth was exceptional down to 0 Fahrenheit which including strong side winds. One layer of good boot socks is enough at this temperature. I tried two layers and quickly overheated.Water resistance was never an issue, but I pre-treated the exterior with several coats of Camp Dry so it's hard to determine if the coating was providing the protection or if the boots themselves are waterproof/resistant.Overall, the cold weather version of this boot exceeds my expectations, to the point where my next purchase is the hot weather version.As an aside, these boots appear slightly more narrow and longer when looking down at them, but the size (for me) was accurate. I think the shape/design has something to do with how well they navigate in the snow.Also, break-in was minimal.Very happy customer !

Don’t buy super uncomfortable it hurts to walk in them definitely not worth the price.

I work in a rural area, terrain varying from soft/sand to rocky. Been using these boots for the past year. Tread is still good and the boots are still holding up. Best part is they are comfortable and I have fallen arches.
